and of course I'm pissed that he, in reality, don't have a chance of winning this year. Dallas is probably the weakest team he could've ended up with...

I mean, I realize I am arguing this with the two most biased Zuccarello guys we have on this blog, but you guys needed a reality a check, they werent signing him to a contract that took him to 37 years old

I don't. They just can't seem to score. It's kind of crazy.

that's gonna change, they now have Zucc

I get that, and the 1st would be great for the team, but I would rather have solid leadership here than another pick.
Best case, Stars play well enough for us to get the 1st this year and Zucc resigns here in the summer, ultimately I don't think Zucc is in Gorton's long-term plans. poophead

We all gotta understand that the past is the past, and that is not easy to do. He was integral in the success of the last decade but at some point we gotta and they gotta move on. I’d be happy for Zucc, or G for example, if they won a cup because they deserve it and they weren’t gonna win it here anytime soon

if you dont think there's a chance Dallas can win 2 rounds you are cray cray

- jimbro83

This is very true, the west is completely wide open

if you asked me January 11th, I would have said Zuccarello was going to get traded for a 4th rounder

he had 4 goals and 11 assists and was absolutely miserable

he went on an absolute tear the last month

people seem to think he is going to keep this one month tear going until he's 37 years old

he's gonna play with a broken heart; no Brass no Hags no Henrik very few friends from home coming to visit no chance to win this year. You can be sure he's pissed now!

they are guaranteed a 2nd, and they can't draft a decent prospect with the 3rd round pick?

I don't get it

I really dont understand at all why so many people dont like this trade

- jimbro83

When Dzingel was traded earlier today for 2x 2nd round picks and Duke I ( and many here ) thought we could get a similar return for Zuke. Obviously, we overestimated his worth. I don't hate it, just find it a bit underwhelming...

I’m hoping he likes Dallas. If he resigns and we wind up with a 1st and a 2nd, that’s highway robbery
- 2sticks1puck

If the Rangers had that stipulation, would you want them signing an UFA 31 year old that makes them give up their 1st so they get to keep their 3rd instead? Why would DAL sign him in the summer, they would be idiotic if they did. The only chance of getting a 1st out of this deal is if they somehow make the Conference Finals when them making the playoffs is far from guaranteed.

the Duke is literally a non entity

but if you told me we could guarantee a second next year instead of the 3rd with a chance of it becoming a number 1, I'd still rather have the conditional 3rd

so really there wasn't any trade they could have made for Zucc that would have made you happy, you are just upset Zucc is gone
- jimbro83

Of course I am, and I'm honestly relieved it's over.
I don't know what trade would have made me happy, it's a business after all. Tom is all about loading up on picks, I'm more of getting a pick and prospect back. Neither might not pan out, or we get lucky and get a solid player. What I love about Zucc is that he brings it every night, every shift. Sure it took him a long time to find his game again after he got his bell rung, but he did. He's exactly the type of player you want during a rebuild, and I would love to get him back during the summer, but don't think it's going to happen.

I find it hard to believe they won’t make the playoffs. They have Bishop who has been solid, they have a solid D and now added a playmaker for a second line which they desperately needed

Right now who’s catching them? I know they’re only up a point or so, but the Wild are selling, Zona is Zona, hawks couldn’t prevent a pee wee team from scoring and Vancouver is meh for the most part...who else could beat them out?

CHI has been on fire lately. They are within 5 points of 4 teams, anything could happen.

Chicago is being propped up Kane and Debrincat. They still have a -24 goal differential.

I’m not worried about them missing out. If they were in the east and had to play TB in rd 2 then I think we’d be effed. I think two rds is a decent possibility

They may even add more before Monday, you never know
