Actually have to think that we want Dallas to play poorly from here on out and miss the playoffs entirely. That will make our picks higher in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. The chances of them meeting the conditions to bump our picks up seems remote at best.

Yep the rebuild going to take another 3 years now - TPC
you guys got more picks last year than Benning has his entire time with VAN.
I'd be over the moon with a 2nd and 3rd |

What a (frank)ing joke. This trade makes me want to jump ship. How could that be the best return? |
|
|
|
Doesn't seem like great return. Dzingel got Duclair and two 2nds with no salary retained. Zucc only gets a 2nd and 3rd with 30% salary retained? For that return I am surprised the deal was made this early. Could have been better offers coming. |

I'll be honest and say I'm quite disappointed but Zucc is like a classic car, worth more to the person who rebuilt it than to the rest of the world.
He is an undersized top 6, but realistically second line winger who is by no means a young guy. Dallas is certainly not a lock to make the playoffs so that pick might be in the low 40s or even slightly higher. |

At this point it makes no sense. It makes Gorton look completely incompetent. |

Not a single forward on this roster is over 30 yrs old now. Actually Fast and Kreids are the oldest at 27 yrs old. Kinda crazy to see |

Didn't back read, so forgive me for that. But they probably didn't get enough for him. Brian Boyle was traded for a 2nd. This might be one of the few deals Gorton is on the losing end of. |

From an outsider it's a decent return. Goal scoring is the most valued asset and Ott had a legit 20-30 goal scorer who is younger. I love Zuccarello as a player but I think he's one of those guys that are valuable to their team but not on the market. Gorton did ok here, I'm sure it was the best deal out there. |

I hope they win two rounds this year and we resign him, which seems like the least likely timeline |

Let's hope they get a 1st for Hayes and 3rd or 4th for McQuaid. That would give them 7 picks in the first 4 rounds. |

I originally thought going back a week if Hayes and Zucc were both dealt in separate deals, Hayes would get more.... hopefully for you guys this is the case.... if Zucc signs with Rags next year at worst you get 2 reasonable picks... which could be good.

Not really. This team is years away from competing. Let the picks mature at their own rate. |

If he comes back, great, If he doesn't it's not a big deal. You're talking to the one Ranger fan that has come to terms with this rebuild. I hope they go full tank soon. I personally don't want them to be good until Smith, Staal and Shattenkirk are all off this roster. I loathe those 3. They need so much more depth everywhere other than in net. So I'm fine with what they are doing. |
