Yeah, I feel bad too. But at the end of the day, unless you don't have some sort of NTC or NMC it's part of the business.

Because it's funny.

I think it's a sad day for Hank and the vast majority of Rangers fans, who would at least rather known at some point after July 1st, that Zucc would have only departed if the Rangers couldn't agree to terms with him by then, as opposed to this past week.
That even more so based on for now as it appears to be, the lower than expected return received for him, unless all the conditions are somehow reached to dicatate greater.

Indeed it is.

You thinking they’ll sign Zuccarello again come Free Agency?

Why the heck are you laughing at Zucc having 1G and 1A already in just his 2nd period of play with Dallas, with you being for eternity the tanker and seller in chief?

I think the Hank interview said it all, I get the impression he isn’t coming back.

I know we always say it won’t happen, but I wonder if this makes Hank waive his clause and he gets dealt somewhere in the off season (per his request). It really hit him hard this time

I saw that interview already as well via the MSG broadcast, in which Hank still couldn't fully erase his sad emotions starting from the time the deal had come down yesterday evening, right throughout this game today, and still also likely for some days, all for the reasons I mentioned, starting with him not look Hank like mechanics wise alone in that OT loss. Goal tending is 100% mentally thinking first, and if something affects a goalie's thinking, or even worse, his confidence, he is starting out on a losing end.

Negotiations weren't going well with an extension to start with and I honestly don't think Gorton would bring him back now that he's been traded.. Now that he's gone, Zucc's probably going to test the market.
Nobody wants him back more than me (except Hank), just don't see it happening.

My thing is why would he want to come back to a rebuilding team? At his age and most likely last contract I think he would want to play for a contender, wherever that may be, no matter how much he loved being a Ranger

A lot of emotions

So Zucc with a goal and an assist then leaves the game with an upper body injury

With McQuaid not having been dealt yet, the offers Gorton has received must be even lower in magnitude than what was expected for Zuuuuc.
Barring a sudden surprise injury today to a d'man from a Cup contender in either San Jose, Calgary, Winnipeg, or even possibly St. Louis, it will be hard for the Rangers to receive the equal in return that it cost them to acquire him from the Bruins. That's unless Toronto for one other Cup contender, increases their offer, or should Zuuuuc be able to convince Dallas to pursue him to do most of the shot blocking instead of him, with another needed condition also having to be met by Gorton to complete that trade.

I mean I think he would have stayed if offered an extension, but now that he is gone it will be easier for him to move on.

If Zuke was seriously looking for a 5 year extension, then this was an easy pass for the Rangers. I love the guy, but wouldn't offer him anything greater than a 2 year deal at this point. Face it, he's not coming back...

Penguins lost 2 defensemen in the outdoor game last night. There should be a demand for McQuaid right up to the deadline.

I think the biggest reason why the fans are upset with Zuuuc being dealt, other than it being him in tenure, play, and fan popularity, is because since it's Zuuuuc, they would have preferred it to be his only own choice or option to be forced to depart come July 1st or later, as opposed to just a few days ago in not being able to agree to a new contract.

But would the Rangers want to help the Penguins win a Cup, as per the earlier talks with them being interested in acquiring Zuuuuc about a month ago having never gotten serious?

I can't imagine fans being happy if Zuke left for nothing
