everytime one of my favorite players has been traded or bought out I instantly let it go
bottom line, a 2nd rounder from Dallas is a better pick than a 2nd rounder from one of the favorites - jimbro83
a 2nd and a 3rd can't be the best they would get for Zuke - no f'n way |

honestly.. i think we are over-hyping the return we were going to get for Zucc. He has only scored 20 goals + ONCE & Dzyingel is having back to back 20g seasons and hes only 26. There is no way they turned down a better deal! That is crazy! |

trying to analyze and discuss this trade realistically with people who are waaaaaaay too emotional about it is difficult |

how about this one
Dallas misses the playoffs, the 2nd round pick ends up being 46th overall
Dallas re-signs Zuccarello
Dallas misses the playoffs next year
we get lottery pick from Dallas |

That would be awesome. Just gotta hope he re-signs. And that is probably the best outcome for the pick tis year. |

I see nothing about that pick in 2020 being lottery protected if it does become a first |

hopefully we stop winning shootouts now that he is gone (I kid). I honestly think we got a fair return. Anyone thinking we were gonna get a first is delusional (hopeful but delusional). |

Also Gorton should be non stop calling Rutherford about McQuaid. The penguins might have lost Dumolin and Letang last night, on top of of having Maatta on IR. |

I’m hoping this is the best they could get for a rental and it was agreed before gorton signed off on it he told zucc he would be resigned in the off season otherwise we should have kept him. This sucks no matter what they get with the picks from Dallas you won’t know for 5 or 6 years if their any good. BULLpoop! |

I was hoping somebody would panic and give the Rangers more. But with roughly 48 hours left, it didn't look like that was gonna happen.
As recent history has shown your, you get something, anything instead of letting UFAs leave for nothing. Look Parise and Tavares. |

Pittsburgh just has absolutely no picks to trade
unless they do something like the Rangers trade their 3rd along with McQuaid for the Penguins first, something like that, but I dont know if Pitt would do that |

Probably not. I was thinking like the 4th Pitts burgh got from Buffalo alnong with a 3rd next year. Similar to the Zucc deal. |

How can you be mad? They are rebuilding. You stock pile picks so you can be good for a while (ala Lightening) or be able to trade said assets when you are making a run. Giving him 5yrs woulda been silly. |

yeah maybe
Pittsburgh is in a tough spot, they've mortgaged their future with all their trades and right now are on the outside looking in

That was less than I thought Zuke was worth and I'm an eternal pessimist/Islander fan. I don't think he was worth the 1st + high-end prospect that some did. But I thought he could get a little more than they ultimately got for him. |

I like the powerball aspect of this trade much more than some B rated prospect coming along with the decent 2nd round pick

Hayes is going to net you the best return IMO and hopefully it will show in the next 48 hours. Kreider is going to bring in a HAULLLLLLLL next year if they dont extend. |

I would say the best thing that this trade has going for it is that the West is an utter tire-fire and god knows what happens once the playoffs start. I have a hard time believing he re-signs there but the Stars could, conceivably, win two playoff rounds I guess.
But I think the Stars are as likely to miss the playoffs as they are to make it. They're only inside the playoffs by one point right now and Chicago is still steaming through the league. |

I think there is a decent chance Zuccarello signs there
they will instantly love him in the locker room, the fans will instantly love him and no state income tax |
