again; I don't think we got max what we could've AND to send him to the weakest 'contender' in the west was the worst possible for him... - 21peter
With all due respect Peter, Gorton in not beholden to making Zucc happy, but getting the highest second round pick he could for the team |

True. My evaluation was based on the notion that there’s no way either of those conditions are met.
I don’t think they’re likely, but I’d take a second and third with crazy powerball odds for more over a pair of seconds |

I think the issue I have most with this is, they coulda waited til Monday and probably got the same return, if not more. Like a B prospect or something instead of the 3rd rder...didn’t really expect a first. It’s just hard to have faith in the scouts in the second and third rds when they threw a knuckleball with Lindbom last year, when they had Shesty and Georgy already in the org. It was just dumb and who’s to say they go off the board again with these picks
I said before, maybe they have a left fielder in mind with this pick - Slimtj100
I agree "they could have waited until Monday", as I also mentioned on Friday, that I could see the Rangers only dealing McQuaid of the three, through the time today's match up against the Caps is over. That was to see if besides Duchene having already been moved, as to whether or not by mid afternoon Sunday with still near 24 hours then remaining until the deadline, if Ottawa would have either re-signed Stone or dealt him, which they have done neither yet. That would have increased the trade value received for Zucc, (as it should do with Hayes with Calgary becoming interested in him on Friday), and due to at least 4 teams very seriously interested in acquiring Stone that day, and now possibly even more.
In all, it appears for now that Zucc's return received was lower than expected. But for one who had played around bouts with a groin injury through December, and had the team's worst +/- rating as poor as a (-18) then, I guess Gorton received what he felt was the best offer from anyone. Dallas in the end, (among likewise those others who were interested), hoped they would be receiving the Zucc of nearly the past two months, as opposed to the one playing from October through December. That's what forced the picks received to be "conditional" in nature, in addition to Gorton having to retain some of Zucc's remaining contract. |

That may be the best joke you ever wrote on here as to your expected return for Hayes being traded.
(At least due to what I read from some's comments since logging on here shortly ago, or else I would have thought I was having a nightmare only.) |

Hey...if Zuuc returns, it will be a 2nd, 3rd and Zuuc for Zuuc
Zucc at 31 doesn't have the upside of Dizingel, and will require a 4/5 yr. deal at 6mill per. Dzingel can be offered a bridge deal by his new team. Maybe GMs in league aren't going to offer what many expected b/c Zuuc is looked at as a guy who is strictly a rental and might very well just resign w/ NYR this offseason - rrentz
I'm sure someone already responded, but Dzingel is a UFA and reportedly turned down a deal in the 5 for $20M range. He wants to get paid, and likely will. There will be no bridge deal.
Also, just how much upside does Dzingel really have? He'll be 27 in two weeks. It's not like he's 24 or 25 and an RFA. If he's going to be a 30-30 guy, he's really going to get paid, but I'm dubious on that. |

I truly am at a loss for words. Why the rush for a 2 & 3? There are a couple more days and IMHO he’s much more valuable to NYR than a 2 & 3. I hope Zuc can find it in his heart to forgive Gorton and resign here in July. Best of Luck Matt Zuccarello. Wishing you the absolute best! |

Don't mind me, Messner. I'm just pissed off. It's my boy Zuke. He grew up less than 1 mile from where I grew up. I've watched him play hockey from he was 14.
I was hoping they would send him to a proper contender to let him have a shot to be Norway's first Cup winner if they couldn't let him stay and retire a Ranger. Mats (frank)ing Zuccarello is better than a 2nd in '19 and a 3rd in '20 IMO.
Dallas could win it all this year - yea right
Zuke signing in George Bush land to get a few extra $$ - don't think so
That's it, Reinhold - don't break a leg. |

I can't believe we didn't get a 2nd rounder from a "real contender" like Calgary which will be like 60th overall
we got a 2nd rounder from Dallas which will be like 47th overall unless they win a couple of rounds which will bump it up to 27th overall

everytime one of my favorite players has been traded or bought out I instantly let it go
bottom line, a 2nd rounder from Dallas is a better pick than a 2nd rounder from one of the favorites |
