6 weeks ago pretty much everyone agreed that a 2nd would be the price, but the way he's been playing lately - and what other players have gotten - a 1st, or a 2nd together with a decent prospect would've been a fair value. - 21peter
If they made any mistake with this it’s not waiting it out til Monday. But you could end up biting yourself in the ass if you’re not careful. Think about it, Nash got a 1st but they had to take a lot of garbage back...Mac got a first but they also got a lot more with him and he had another year to go. Zucc alone wasn’t getting a first, we can all say he wouldve but it wasn’t gonna happen. We love the guy and i think we’re a little jaded by that |

If Dallas doesn’t win two rounds and Zucc doesn’t resign with them we have a pick in the top half of the second round, sorry but I never thought we were doing better than that - KreiderBomb
Me either, I wanted to keep him. |

Per Carp:
"If the conditions are not met, I’m told that the Dallas second-rounder (at this moment, based on standings) is the highest pick the Rangers could have gotten from the teams that were in the hunt. They will go to the draft in Vancouver (with other trades to still be made) with a first-rounder and at minimum three second-rounders; Tampa Bay’s second turns into a first if the Lightning win the Cup."
If this is the case, then Gorton did the best he could and built in conditions that would be escalators to possible higher picks. Just find it odd that Ryan Dzingel, despite being five years younger, which to me matters little for a rental UFA, netted two seconds guaranteed and Zucc couldn't have brought that guaranteed return back. But maybe Gorton opted to swing for the fences and by picking up 30% of the remaining contact got Dallas to bite on the possibility of the picks rising if the conditions are met. |

I mean Matt Duchene got a first rounder and a couple of decent prospects
the other pick is a conditional first rounder which you guys dont count apparently so I'm not counting it
people thought Zucc would get close to a Duchene package? - jimbro83
I know a lot of you guys have more or less hated him this year, but he's been playing half injured for a fair part...
You seem to have forgotten his elite playmaking skills together with his 'always 100% effort' style of playing. A 4th? That's some funny sh!t right there |

All for restocking the farm team, though that was my point with the Zucc trade. Pick and a prospect. - Fenrir
I agree with that, think that has to be the thought process going foward |

again, my compliments to your humor - it's really funny
...but first of all it depends on how they treated him in this process, if he want's back. For sure his dream is to retire a Ranger! - 21peter
I try. I don’t go on Facebook anymore so I have to get it out somewhere. I have a lot of time on my hands lol |

a guy that's been playing injured as he approaches 32 will no doubt stay healthy as he gets even older
damn, why the hell didn't we give him a 5 year extension? |

No one here hates him, not one person. Maybe Tom but I doubt that even. It’s impossible to hate him. |

Seeing what Zucc got, what are we expecting for Hayes? |

Me nope, hoped for a second and a good prospect. With the Dzingel deal, a pair of seconds and a solid prospect. |

I always thought Hayes would fetch more so I am expecting a first and one of these prospects you are dying for |

again; I don't think we got max what we could've AND to send him to the weakest 'contender' in the west was the worst possible for him... |

I think if Zucc backed off insisting on 5 years there would be a better chance of him coming back
if he'd take 3, probably real good chance - jimbro83
3 is realistic, maybe 4, not 5. We won't know until July what his or Gorton's intentions are. |

Interesting move. Not terrible, not a homerun. Can’t fault them if that’s what they thought was the best available though |
