The reality is that he'd be great. But we have a great forward core who are very young and getting better every day. For Krieder to really be effective, and affordable, who goes? We want to move Zaitsev _anyway_, but we want to replace him with D - certainly if we had capspace to spare, we'd want to put it towards improved D. Krieder, I think, is more of a wish-list, but can't have guy. We have Kapanen, Johnsson, Hyman, Nylander, Marner . . .obviously Brown can go, and the 4th line is meh, but you insert Krieder's salary and sacrifice what?

Are we still trying to trade Liljegren? Kid is 19, a RHD, has been playing tough minutes all year with the Marlies, has some tough injury breaks, and looks to be a natural partner with Sandin... but let’s trade him.

I would disagree with the leafs defense is fine. Rielly is good. Muzzin is a solid second pairing Dman. Gardiner would be a sick 6th Dman and dermott has promise but still has warts so at the point a good 5. Still missing a 2 and 3

Maybe not, but being on near record setting pace for an 18 year old d-man in the AHL while getting minimal power play time, if any, is a pretty good reason why he should be untouchable still.
