Johnson needs to hit and kill someone and then the league needs to hand him a 5 year suspension. That's a win/win. |

I have to disagree. Very few NHL coachs would sit a NHL guy like Johnson, especially in his first season after signing a big contract. No coach is going to show his GM up like that. I dont disagree with you at all, Johnson is horrible. I would rather have the cap money back and have Chad Ruhwedel play every night. You'll get similar production.
I dont get what you want him to do to get Kessel & Malkin going. Hornqvist I think he has mismanaged, but I dont think Horny fits in the top 6 anymore which is a big problem given his contract.
I hold Rutherford far more responsible for the state of the team than Sullivan. - SuperHenderson13
Well Torts scratched JJ. That guy will scratch anybody and he seems to have the respect of Jarmo, who is killing it. The Jackets will have no problem luring free agents after they’re showing they’re willing to go for it. I agree there’s a disconnect, but Sullivan has stalled several guys to his bench including Reaves and Sprong in the past who Rutherford wanted to play. I think Sullivan just thinks JJ is good, so does Rutherford from the sounds of it. So who can make a difference there? A new coach.
I’m like the Treasurer of the Trade Hornqvist Committee - but when you’ve got a guy who isn’t going you’ve gotta find a way. Calgary’s line cooled off and now Lindholm is on the 2nd line and they continue to roll on. I recall watching Simon-Geno-Hornqvist and liking it same with 72-71-81 for a spell. Why wasn’t it given a longer look? I couldn’t tell you. Does ZAR look good with Geno? Absolutely. What’s it doing for Phil or Horny? Nada. Are we all suddenly of the opinion that Bjugs and Phil were awful together? I’m certainly not. Lots of coaches love to have pairs in there forward ranks and to just let the other wing just settle itself with whoever is hottest. To me 87-59, 71-72, and Kessel on the 3rd line should be constants. If you want to load up once a while, then go for it. I think Sullivan’s lineup decisions have been questionable for a very long time |

I have liked Wilson, Blueger, ZAR, & Rust this season. None of them are offensive studs, but all 4 play their roles nicely. - SuperHenderson13
I agree with you and if their 5v5 goal differential can always remain positive then they should be constants in the lineup. My odd man out there is Wilson. I really like him, but not at the expense of sitting some of these other guys like Blueger |

Probably not with lengthy absences by letang and dumo on tap. Gonna get ugly fast, starting with the remainder of this game.
At least the Crosby goal was cool |

Can Phil shoot the puck or because his shot is so good he can only take 2 a game? With a shot like his he should shoot whenever the puck comes to him. If he is trying to be a playmaker he needs to be on his own line with someone who will shoot. If he won’t take the shot I wouldn’t put him with Geno. It’s like a wasted spot.... |

Wayyyyyyyy different to talk about Johnson in his last year or so with the Jackets. Jarmo didnt trade for him and clearly wasnt interested in resigning him. Torts wasnt being brave by sitting him. That's way different than Johnson with a new team and signed to a brand new deal. I think sullivan realizes that him sitting Johnson isnt going to help his case to remain coach. The disconnect started over Reaves IMO. Sullivan wanted no part of Reaves considering he just won two cups with players very different than Ryan Reaves. That was a stupid and unnecessary trade by Rutherford.
There are plenty of things I dont like about Sullivan. He didnt play Sprong and never gave him a chance (similar to Pouliot & Bylsma), he keeps playing Cullen, & he's been sitting Simon/Blueger/Wilson when all three have proven themselves. So I am not a homer for Sullivan. I am purely making the point that this team is not constructed to compete. Some of that is on Rutherford, some is on Sullivan, some of it is on the players. I just dont think a coaching change is going to do anything and I think you could find a much worse coach than Sullivan. |

Anytime a Flyer gets hit, that's a win. Anytime Johnson is out of the lineup, that's a win. |

They wont resign him so the one 1st is moot
If they make it past 2 rounds of the playoffs into the WCF, I'm sure they'll gladly upgrade the 2nd to a 1st
At the end, it's only gonna cost them the 2nd and the 3rd

I think Dallas got a good deal. No way I see him resigning in Dallas. I think he actually goes back to New York in the offseason. To get him for a 2nd & 3rd is good. Making it a 1st is fair if you go far enough in the playoffs.
I like the structure for Dallas. They only pay big if it works out. Worst case, you lose a 2nd & 3rd. Now if they go the Conference Finals and resign him, than yea Rangers got a good deal for him. I dont see either of those happening. |
