Lindholm is pure shyte, excellent player for a rebuilding team with no hopes or aspirations to go anywhere. Skates around nice, never scores, never dangerous, just exists. - winsix
Oh, I know, but Babcock...

Walshy, I can see why you would would have doubts, realistically, they will be a longshot to win. But your math is off, math is not related to any opinion. - winsix
If the Leafs win the Cup this year I'll happily eat my hat. I'll promise you one thing. The Leafs will not be 2018/19 Stanley Cup Champions |

Sine Kadri will be 29 next year, I would move him.
Marleau looks so bad as a winger this year, I would not move him to C again. - RogerRoeper
Christ. Is 29 old now? |

If you look at his ES time on ice per game and look at his peers with the same amount it’s abohr right. Babs plays his 4th line very little compared to other teams. |

Something I'm eager to watch more of (if we have the opportunity), is Nylander playing center. Boy he's looked good the last few games, but he's also looked good on the wing too: he's been their best player for a while now.
If Nylander's a fit at 3C, does that make Kadri and his great contract expendable, or does this just reveal some center depth we didn't think we necessarily had?
I for one thought they would have had Lindholm or even Marleau centering the 3rd line with reduced minutes when Kadri was hurt. - gravyface
He's really good at carrying the puck, and he's shown a lot of hustle.
It's intriguing having guys like Johnnson and Kap step up to the point where there are legit enough to play with AM and he's not just carrying them, because having AM, Marner and Billy on three different lines is a matchup headache. And I didn't even mention Tavares yet.

I read where AM's minutes are in line with top centres on recent Cup winning teams. I also heard the commentators recently talking about St. Louis' and Tampa's depth and rolling four lines. Good teams have depth and spread minutes around. This angst about Babcock is a solution looking for a problem. |

Kucherov plays 6 more seconds of even strength mins per game....Stamkos plays a minute less. People need to relax. |

It's as if Shanahan, and Yzerman GMing Canada, having been coached by Babcock, and being multiple time champion Hall of Famers, actually know something. |

I don't understand how so many people think the Leafs should poopcan him.
Yeah, it's very (frank)ing annoying seeing Hainsey continuously paired with Rielly. But come on people. |

Serious. If the Leafs actually got some power plays, Matthews would have more ice time. |

Or it's like when people were tweaking about Matthews was upset at his usage or linemates, they asked Sundin and he said that goes on between players and coaches every day lol |

He’s improved his team each year...turned Kadri and Gardiner back into something. Took a 30 placed team into the playoffs.
Everything has been going well IMO since he became coach.
People act like their opinions are facts. You won’t agree with everything a coach does. But sometimes sit back and think maybe you are wrong and one of the top coaches in the NHL is right. |

Yep, he’s on the top PP. he gets no PK time and gets the same even strength numbers of other stars on elite teams. |

Let me guess, no one can win but Tampa..
Leafs can beat Tampa. Tampa can lose in the 1st round to a WC team. |

The issue I have is, why is his TOI so dependant on PPs? Have you seen the stats? Matthews is the second best 5 on 5 scorer in the entire NHL. Only McDavid is better.
He needs more 5 on 5 minutes as well.
Babs giving Matthews less than 17 minutes in a game where Kadri got hurt was a terrible mistake. And they lost in OT.
This team can't have Hyman leading forwards in TOI. It cannot happen.
Matthews doesn't just score, he's a puck possession beast and shot generator.
More goals=more wins.
More Hyman=no goals. |

Your saying pp time isn’t as big of a deal for time on ice but then mention Hyman who numbers are inflated because of his pk min? |

It's more Lindholm's minutes that bothers me. Hey, he's replacement level 4th liner not making much, so whatever. But I'd like to see a bit of youth there (aka Moore).
At least they sent Moore back down, but there was a time this year when we had one of the better 4th lines in the league (Ennis Gauthier Leivo). |
