That score did not reflect how one-sided the game was.

You mean if they get loser points we would be okay with it? Because they didn't look good, IMO.

- BeadyEyedDouche

Like Pach said, most would be fine with it. He left room for folks like you and, I presume, Pegullaville.

Why do people seem so sure Skinner will come back if he gets traded?
- Pierceme69

Because we will offer him the most money

Yeah, if the last 30+ games were like this, we would all be fine with it. Problem is, they have not looked competitive despite getting a lot of lucky bounces.

This is true. And if he’s signs after the TDL, he’s getting eight years, which is concerning.

Their play against the Bolts has been the least of this team’s problems this season.

OTTAWA SUN: Bruce Garrioch reports Senators forwards Mark Stone and Ryan Dzingel were scratched from last night’s game against the Columbus Blue Jackets as they await their fates. He believes Dzingel has one foot out the door after spurning a five-year contract offer worth in excess of $20 million, but there’s a chance (albeit slim) that Stone could re-sign before Monday’s trade deadline.

Garrioch thinks 17 or 18 clubs, including the Winnipeg Jets, Calgary Flames, Boston Bruins and Tampa Bay Lightning, may have expressed interest in Stone. The asking price is said to be higher than what the Senators received for Matt Duchene (two prospects, a first-round pick and a conditional first) from the Blue Jackets. The Chicago Blackhawks and Boston Bruins could be sniffing around on Dzingel, with the Sens seeking a first-round pick or a high-end prospect in return.

Sabres get: Stone, Dzingle, 5th

Sens get:
Buffalo's 2019 1st (top 5 protected, becomes Buffalo's 2020 unprotected 1st); Lower of either the St. Louis or San Jose 1st;
St. Louis 2021 2nd;
Guhle
McCabe
SJ 4th

Don't know if it would be enough. BUT....i'm not doing this unless I have concrete assurances from both Stone and Dzingle that they will sign with us.

We are still not quite in the position to be throwing away picks for rentals.

Yikes.

As foot fetish above says, not unless it's a sign and trade. That's nuts. The Sens are going to be loaded for their rebuild.

Looking at the schedule, I’d say the Sabres are about to go on a massive losing streak... there are no “should” win games until the end of March. They will win a couple here and the but the schedule is not friendly for them...

Could we get lottery lucky two years in a row?

Not trading a “measly first rounder” for Duchene to try and “win now” would of helped the Sens a lot too. At least we don’t have to see Jack Hughes or Kappo Kakko in a Sens jersey though.

Would love to get those guys, I would.
However, I'd rather wait until FA and see who is available and not expend all the resources to acquire, then still have to pay the most to acquire.
Sabres must keep their pick of the 3 firsts, the other two I 'm open to trading.

Trading all that to then pay a combined potential cap hit of $14M long term? No way.

If I'm giving up that much, I'd rather go after Couturier, Huberdeau, Toffoli, or players like that who are not UFA's.

Totally agree.

Go after quality players with term instead that fit the age range and need, like I mentioned above.

Sabres mgmt must be gunning for a top 5 pick again.
This is something they feel the team can collectively achieve...it is a streatch goal, but damn it, I think they can do it.

Top 5 would be very difficult.
4-12-6
5-14-3

More likely bottom 7 -

They blew that, but they could end up walking out of this with some fairly high end prospects and 4 or more firsts.
