Why would they dump Panarin now? If that is the case you don't gain anything, they are both UFA's, no?
- Chunk

Because you now have Duchene you move Panarin to replace some of what went to Ottawa for Duchene.

Panarin is never signing with Columbus so Juro keeps Panarin as a rental or moves him for assets.

Panarin could put contenders such as Calgary- Boston - Vegas - Nashville over the top.

Keeping Panarin for a Blue Jacket playoff run isn’t realistic because it looks like Tampa Bay is their first round opponent

Just my two cents

Does it seem a bit fishy that Seabrook name was mentioned a month ago about getting traded, and right before the deadline he has abdominal pains?

Is Seabrook really injured or is he merely putting a injury to derail any chances Chicago could have a taker for him?

- Taylorst1

Why would he need to do that with a NMC?

If you don’t get The Athletic, you should. Here’s a snippet from an article today about the Blackhawk zone exit and entry.

The players on the right side of the graph aren’t much of a shocker. Keith, Jokiharju and Gustafsson are all exiting the zone with possession at a higher rate than the league average, with Keith being the only one not turning the puck over at a high rate. Gustafsson’s place on this chart, in particular, isn’t very surprising if you watch him play for a few shifts. He grades as one of the top defensemen in the league in terms of leading exits with possession. He also turns the puck over at a very high rate, which is what kept him in the AHL for a couple of seasons before being called up last year. His passing and playmaking is something the Hawks value since they don’t have a lot of other defensemen currently on the roster who can replace that.

In a way, Gustafsson personifies the Hawks’ high risk/high reward playing style. He’s always thinking offense first and the second the puck goes north, he’s making a dash for the opposing blue line to make himself an option for entering the zone or to start a passing play. There isn’t much restraint to Gustafsson’s game and he’s been responsible for some highlight-reel plays for both teams because of that. The pros and cons of a defenseman like him are always tough to debate, but on a blue line that’s in need of players who can complete passes, he’s been a key fixture.

I get it that he has the NMC, however the rumors about Keith and Seabrook surely have some merit. Stan finally woke up and realized his mistake I'm sure he is looking to fix that and it wouldn't surprise anyone should Stan find a taker , it would put Seabrook in a box to turn around and say no and then have that leaked out to the press.

It's cynical but it's business .

Why fake an injury to derail a possible trade? All Seabs has to do is invoke his NMC.

There is no guarantee that Duchene signs with CBJ either. Most of what went to Ottawa was prospects. Just curious, are you thinking that they are not going for it this year, or they are?

Considering there is a lot of games left to be played, there is no guarantee of any particular matchup. Not to mention, I don't think any team would base their moves at the trade deadline on who they would be matched up against in the first round. If you are going for it, you theoretically have to play them anyway (considering they are the "best" in the conference), so what does it matter which round?

Just trying to figure out where you are coming from.

Is Josh Manson worth a 1st round pick? Trading that pick for a known/needed player makes it worth it in my book. Draft picks will always be coin flips. In trading that pick for a talented D that fills a major hole???? Why not

Agreed well worth it.

First off, apologies for getting political yesterday. wont happen again.

I hope the Hawks make a hockey trade for the future and allow this team to grow. I agree with earlier poster on 3-4 of possible 4 this weekend. The 3 point NHL game may hurt them in the long run so they need to accumulate as much as possible.

Panarin, baring a monster offer to Columbus, wont' be going anywhere. They are loading up. Good for them and their fans. easily could have dumped panarin and bob.

Good for Columbus. They are desperate. Also they have never won a playoff series right ? Some very good teams but no series wins?

I highly doubt it. He's mid-30's, things start to hurt for no reason. He could have "slept wrong" or moved too fast picking up his kid, or any other number of random things that ruin your day.

I think everyone would appreciate it if your posts weren't so set in stone. None of us know what the front office is thinking or who they are taking calls on.

The only difference between us and people like LeBrun and Friedman, et al. are a couple of low level employees and the first text from a FO. Other than that, we're all full of poop and are trying to have fun figuring out what to do.

Zawaski says the big 4 d prospects are not untouchable. says 2 and 7 do not want to move. of those I would guess boquist would be the one. mostly because of how far away he is.

Supposedly Abramov is the tob CBJ prospect and Davidsson is their 3rd or 4th.

If Columbus is going all in this year, doesn't win the cup and does not resign Duchen, Panarin, or Bobrovsky, they may be going down the tubes in a hurry.

I'm told that trading one of the Hawks big 4 defensive prospects (Beaudin, Boqvist, Jokiharju, Mitchell) is not off the table. There's a log jam in the organization, especially since it doesn't look like #2 or #7 want to go anywhere.

If Saad and him had chemistry while Saad was in Columbus, that's something to consider. Chemistry and teamwork is the difference between playoffs and championships.
Look at DCat and Strome, Strome had a change of scenery and he's doing well with his best bud.
Also, I'd bet a considerable amount of money that some of the Hawks veterans (*cough* Kane *cough*) take an extra special interest in mentoring certain rookies they take a liking to (Panarin, DCat, Schmaltz) and that helps to maximize the rookies stats and performance on the ice, plus they learn the game the "right" way at the NHL level. I'd also wager this is partially because Kane had that same treatment from Sharp IIRC? and also Kane is competitive to the point that he wants to bring everyone else around him up so that the Blackhawks can win.
For all of the debates on here as to predicting DCat's success in the NHL, don't believe for a minute that he'd be doing comparably well on any other team in parallel. It's kind of a crap shoot how well a young player fits on a team / with his teammates and adjusts to the NHL.
Sometimes, players succeed DESPITE losing culture and a "cancerous" locker room. See EDM: McDavid, Connor.
Other times, players fail despite draft pedigree and skill. See any of the top 10 "bust" picks in the past few years.

What would Columbus want for Wenneberg. I do not see a worthwhile trade. You talk about chemistry with Wenneberg and AA. But that move alone does not stop you from loosing high scoring games. Columbus would want a solid prospect or a #2? I mean this is a former #1 pick so there is an issue of they.are willing to move him. Yes-, he is not anything special.
