Even a loss is a win at this point.

Depends on you define buying. Don't think Bowman will be going after rentals.
- Elbows15

By buying , I simply mean adding. I have a hard time believing they stand pat at this point. Kind of like regarding the guys for getting this close after he made an unpopular coaching change.

Not saying they will get silly and sell a 1st rounder for a rental but I think they will add to give them the best chance to make the playoffs.

Kanes best year plus Crawford coming back plus getting DeBrincat , Strome and others some playoff experience probably viewed as really v valuable

This includes the make Gus a forward derivative topic as well.
- TrueGrit

its to late for that...but he would be a better forward than he ever will be defensively

What would you say is the minimum return you'd like? Or just take the best offer?

Agreed... maybe for a pick and a goalie prospect.

I personally think you have to be a little crazy to bet on hockey, but it was brought to my attention that 17 of the Blackhawks' last 18 games have hit with the over. Stars-Blackhawks is set at 6.5 goals today.

To be expected for a team with lots of offense and little defense.

This Wennberg for Anisimov talk baffles me because I cannot see any valid reason for it.
-AA is outscoring him now
-Wennberg's scoring production has been in a downward spiral for a couple years
-Wennberg's deal is more than AA's for twice the years
-AA's value increases after July 1 (after $2M bonus is paid) making him an attractive option for a cash-strapped team like Ottawa needing to make the Cap floor
-adding Wennberg now uses up Cap and decreases our chances for adding a useful UFA July 1
What am I missing?

He should get a pretty good return in today's NHL, with the focus on puck movers. Being in the top 10 defensemen in points with such a low cap hit might be pretty attractive to a team looking to boost the PP down the stretch. Maybe Pittsburgh, given yesterday's events and their tight cap situation, would be a possibility.

All excellent points and Wennberg is only 47% at the dot.

Pretty logical. Not sure how important the cap floor thing will be, though. There's not many teams in that spot, and there's plenty of players to fill the roster.

Per the Athletic TDL summary, the Blackhawks are adamant they are not trading Gus.

Love this scene ! Im listening to the (frank)ing song ! Read somewhere that the referee couldn't skate so it took a couple days to film that part.

Who said anything about the cap going up more? I said the compliance buyouts were a result of the cap dropping. I see comprehension isn't you thing
- GPHawksfan

And when did the salary cap ever drop? During the strike season? I believe it ws a shorter season and teams were pro rated to higher term than the actual cap. So you don't see any coincidence in the NHL not making money and the CBA being negotiated.

An earlier post mentioned Kruger may not play today. Wonder if it is injury related. Maybe one of these teams want him.

Saw that. I was more saying they should be moving him and sell high. At his salary through next season, its not the worse thing if he ends staying, though.

It dropped after the lockout mainly due to the change in the HRR split.
