There will only be compliance buy outs if the cap goes down. That's why it happened the last time. Many teams were over the new cap and were allowed two buyouts to get compliant. Not likely gonna happen this time.
- GPHawksfan

The cap going up is never a given, if history, for losers i guess, has shown us anything people seem to assume the cap is going to keep going up, but rarely anticipate the drop.

Typically when contract negotiations start in almost any cba its amazing how the owners all of a sudden are barely getting by.

The owners are who they are, and by stagnating the cap i believe they can keep max deals at bay. Plus i don't see any mega broadcasting deals coming to hockey any time soon.

The eye test and stats do not concur.
- fattybeef

Expound, please. Are you saying Joki does suck? Or he's really good, AND the Hawks don't know it? That your eyes and the stats show that the team has no coherent plan for the kid?

Couple things... 1.) Did Q "storm out if the draft room"? Or did he "walk out of the draft room" for some reason other than anger? 2.) Also, if he did storm out of the room in anger, does one incident mean that there was a long-term rift between the Bowmans and Q? Or does it mean a few competitive people had a disagreement that blew over quickly? For each of these scenarios, please show your work.

Also regarding the rift...allegedly the Bowmans are the ones who originally brought in Q, gave him awesome talent, and allowed him to cement himself as a legend. I can see why Q hates them....

Now True Contrarian is living rent free in your head. JFC, he seems to be living rent free everywhere. That qualifies as no fixed address does it not?

Actually I was agreeing with your comment. Just thought naive was the more appropriate term, delusional seems a bit harsh.

“The main point you brought up, which is valid and takes nothing away from Q or what has been accomplished, is that Q and SB clearly not on same page. There is no arguing that.

Anyone disagreeing with that is DELUSIONAL”

- walleyeb1

Thank you for clarification. You are correct. Delusional too strong. It was the term assigned to my position in prior posts.

I did not mean to disrespect the family Sonny!

Gust to pitt for1st and simon
- Scott1977

Pittsburgh has virtually no cap space. Gus is about all they could afford as an extra defenceman. So I could see them asking about Gus.
If the Pens give up their 2019 1st they virtually have nothing left to draft with in 2019. I checked them out on the Cap Friendly site and could not believe how they have mortgaged their future in pursuit of the Cup.

Although I favor keeping Gus, how much would the Pens give up now for an affordable offensive defenceman? Especially if Letang is out for a while. They are in a dog fight for a wild card spot and are a "win now" team.
- 67hawks

Keep Keith and Gus, send Forsling to the Pens for McCann.

He may have had to take a poop. I have read here numerous times of some public demonstration of displeasure from Q regarding player decisions over the past few years.

Again, the only evidence of things no longer working is the fact Q is interviewing to become the Jets next coach and not here any longer. Nothing else needs to be said.

My remarks to Mr. Walleye have since been clarified as I have made my efforts to make amends with him for my lack of understanding of his post.

Again, the fact he is gone changes nothing from what the group accomplished and under what terms the relationship was consummated. Do you still do business with everyone you have ever done business with? good or bad? Does not life take us all in different directions over time? Its not personal.

My holiday card was a joke to another poster. It was not meant to be taken literally.

Board Challenge, lets see how many pages of posts we can go thru before we

1. Discuss the merits of trading Gus, proposals and all. He has a better chance of showing up on Empire as he does being traded.

There has been comments on various outlets about the Hawks going after Wenneberg. Even assuming the Hawks unload Anisimov does it make sense for the, to bring on Wenneberg as a $4.9 million 3C? If the Jackets are looking to unload Wenneberg it won’t be until the summer. He may he scratched now but they’ll want to keep him on board in case of injury or somebody else runs cold.

Wenneberg may be a good centre, but I don’t see him fitting with the Hawks.

4 more years left at 4.9 right ? The Hawks would have to really love him to add that. Unless they just like him and straight up trade him for AA

He seems like a bust to me, but I thought that about Stromboli, too. Stan has some leeway with me right now, so I'm okay if he brings him here. If he were to blossom, that could be three good centers.

Sup TG ?

Think the Hawks make it in ? Think they end up selling and moving up the draft board ?

More Land of Make Believe stuff. Why do you think there will be two - or any - compliance buyouts next CBA? As a GM, do you think it is wise to rely on the possibility of compliance buyouts before knowing they will be there?

Is this board evolving from the Board of Doom to the Board of Fairy Tales?

- mohel

Idk, doesn’t have the same ring but Board of Fairy Tales is more sunny and fun.

50 50 on making it in. It is tough. Starts with a win tonight.

I don't mind if they "sell", Anisimov and Krueger if Kamp is ready to return.

Sure is fun caring about the games this time of the year.

Lots of interest in Mark Stone. A league executive believes there are likely eight contenders that will be serious about acquiring him. #Sens
