I'm not a Colliton basher or thinks he's in over his head or any of that nonsense - but I do have to question what he has against Jokiharju. Joki played 9:14 tonight - 7:33 less than the next lowest TOI which was Forsling. I mean, it's not like the other 5 guys are flawless ... what gives with that? Colliton coached in Sweden and the Fins and Swedes are hated rivals, but c'mon, that can't be it, can it? This isn't making sense. Help me out here.

I don’t understand why Ward didn’t start. He came up with big saves in the Wings game, has played well since the all star break, and Delia is struggling ( I believe finding his level). If the game was meaningless, I wouldn’t mind seeing Delia try to play himself out of this slump, but I don’t think Delia gives you the best chance to win a must game like this currently.

lucky that kane, cat, toews and strome are having career years...

Kane maybe - but he keeps getting better and better and....

Hard to say that two 21 year olds are having career years. If they can be this good now - no reason they can’t replicate that several times going forward.

He hadn't played an NHL game in a month and he's thrust into a virtual 4 pointer like this. That's my guess as to his limited minutes. I'm not a huge fan of his...yet.

Fair point, but it seemed JC was kinda messin with him for a while before he was sent down to Rockford too.

Seems Stanbo was too, sending him down to play vs the boys in the World Juniors, but it did pay off. Finland won.

JC seemed to confirm that in a way when asked by Dietz in his post-game directly about the relatively low minutes and whether it was because of the high-pressure game. Said he thought Joki was solid and made some good plays.

So maybe that is all it was.

i agree and get your point...i just wasn't sure how else to phrase it..

i don't think anyone expected cat to approach 40 this year and strome at a pt/gm clip since he arrived...c'mon...

my point is that with out this high octane scoring from the top 5....the hawks might be south of the kings...

Yep. Hawks had the better of the play. Every good look the Avs has was in the back of the net and Varly is in the zone. When is Crow back???

The boys on the post game show were speculating that Sunday could be a possibility if he passes concussion protocol

And I get your point - and yes- without bust-out seasons from 12 and 17, they might be battling Afor an AHL playoff spot.

No I just know how to think big picture and not get suckered in to the moment. Might as well draft as close to #1 as possible if we aren’t gonna win the ultimate prize. That’s why I’m rooting for losses. I mean...is it really that hard to understand?

You act like I’m the one who’s losing his mind here when in reality it’s you and the countless other fans that seem to lack the ability to grasp such a SIMPLE concept. Winning games/making the playoffs does nothing for the future of the franchise. And while losing doesn’t 100% guarantee us a better draft pick, it at the very least puts us closer mathematically to landing one. And at this point(not good enough to win the Cup) what else could you possibly want? We’ve got a lot of nice pieces to build with. So let’s go and land another future asset instead of fighting for the present which inevitably leads us nowhere.

Well a valiant effort tonight - but clearly the Hawks were outplayed at times and then when they seemed to have things going their way in the o-zone the puck would end up in the back of their net. Hawks seemed to have less of the o-zone play until the later stages of the 2nd period and into the third when they started to bring it.

MacKinnon and Landeskog still look great. Varly looked really good as well. A goalie who I wanted the Hawks to trade for long ago before he beat his GF.

Delia didn't look that great - and as mentioned have to wonder why Ward didn't start. And sure it's great to see the kid getting time but if the Hawks are serious about getting in Ward should have started with CC due back soon. It'll be interesting to see when Crawford gets the last test and gets the nod to be back there...

The defense is what it is and they were able to get through 3 kills somehow before giving one up...Despite the Penalty disparity from early on - the Hawks fought back...the pass from Toews to Kane on that 2nd goal was sick.

Puck was bouncing like a superball tonight...ice was bad. Dallas Sunday and they come in with a very good defense. We'll see how many the Hawks can hang on them while giving them up.

I don't understand how you can't enjoy the Hawks winning games? The moment is all we have, and it's foolish to think one can control destiny. We will land a future asset so long as we don't trade blue chip prospects or draft picks. Life always has a different plan.

I have to say i was worried about not having any other top 6 prospects after Kane, Toews and Saad but all of a sudden the future doesn't look so bleak with Strome and Cat.

DK....Salute Bro !!!!!
You make the case for Gramps pretty well !!!!

He was also a Calder Trophy winner, a Canada Cup winner (scored the GWG in the clinching goal vs the U.S. in 1991) and was a key player on the Cup winning team with NYR and was a +204 in his regular season career. But he resigned as a matter of principle from the NHLPA as i recall and seems to have been blackballed by the good ole boys who decide these things.

Pat Foley has said Larmer was the best player he's seen come through Chicago and that's saying something.

Jokiharju is a 19 yr old that got 10 minutes tonight? He’s an elite prospect that isn’t trusted by his coach, rightfully so? idk. Just imagine if the Hawks had a 4th line that could do anything? They’re basically playing 3 lines and Sikura is a waste of space on line 3 that’s been carried by Saad (but Anisimov has been better lately).

I read today that Hawks are in on Dzingel, that would make their top 3 lines all a threat.

- EnzoD

Idk if I like the idea of Dzingel. Having a career year on his walk year is always a red flag for me. Especially when they're asking for around 6M per

It’s not like I don’t enjoy winning games.

But if we’re gonna win another championship with Kane/Toews we need to add as much quality as reasonably possible. The higher you draft, the better your chances are at landing a talent like that. It’s really that simple. There’s nothing else to play for at this point. We aren’t championship material(we’ve given up the most goals in the entire NHL ffs), and the more we fight towards that goal(and yes I realize that means not enjoying the present victories as they come) the more we decrease our chances at improving the future window which given 19 and 88s age isn’t that long.

And...... IRONMAN

He then played in every regular season game in the next 11 consecutive seasons with the Blackhawks as well as 109 postseason outings. His 884 iron-man streak in the regular season is the third longest in NHL history, behind Doug Jarvis's record of 964 and Garry Unger's 914.
