It’s beginning to sound like he needs to be shipped out this summer at the draft.

Yeah at the rate this is going it will be a circus come the summer time with him.....if they can get something decent in return then it might be best.....I’m not wanting to give him away for nothing either.....take the Yzerman approach as he did with Drouin and don’t trade till it makes sense

Bring in whole new management and reset the dynamic between the player and the organization. His results with McDavid are strong enough to justify minutes with him; agree on a 1-year deal where the organization commits to providing the opportunity for the player to play with McDavid next year both for the team's good (production value or trade value) and the player's good (pay increase potential).

Draisaitl- McDavid- Puljujarvi has the capacity to be as good or better than Landeskog- Mackinnon- Rantanen if given the opportunity and time to develop chemistry with one another like the Colorado trio was. Give him PP time, too. Puljujarvi goes net front and the rest stays the same.

Package him and Laggeson with Lucic and a couple draft picks for a top six winger. *shrug*

If the new GM is willing to do that and actually sticks to his word and get Puju to buy in then that’s a pretty good idea.....if he gets a ton of time with those two and still can’t produce then it’s fair to say that his future looks rather bleak at that point

Well I guess we could send that to the Sens for Stone

I doubt it there are teams selling and Keith is just twiddling his thumbs at the moment....Hoffman is rumoured to be had....Nyquist is out there....maybe the Wild are willing to trade Zucker and with all of that all I see us doing is shedding some contracts

The upside on what I think he can do in those conditions is far better than any return we could get for him in trade without doing that. We're looking at what... a 2nd round pick and a prospect right now? And if it doesn't work out maybe a 3rd? If that's the difference between potential value, I'd risk it on a hail mary attempt at turning him into a productive winger. With that secured, any wingers added in the offseason would see Nuge as their C.

Draisaitl- McDavid- Puljujarvi
Trade Acq- RNH- Stone/Nyquist

Fix the top-6 so that both lines can at least outscore. That'll push players currently in the top-6 down and help the bottom-6 not get outscored by quite as much. As is, I wouldn't be surprised if our bottom-6 was averaging sub-40% GF. If we can add a winger to replace Rieder, keep Khaira down there and bring up whoever of Marody, Benson, Gambardella and Russell earn the spot, then that should help drive the rate closer to 45%.

That's still not a great number, but it's in line with league average and frees the top-6 of a -5% goal differential from ~1/3 of the game at 5-on-5.

Seems like a lot for incidental but irresponsible contact, but I understand the need to crack down on even those incidents. Glad to see they didn't soften the suspension for his stardom.

I had a pretty good look at it live, and it didn’t look incidental to me. Even less so when one remembers how Leddy roughed up McDavid earlier that shift.

I don't mean the hit was incidental, but the contact with the head seemed to be unintentional. It's not like he stuck his elbow up or out and stayed pretty consistent in his path into and through the hit. Maybe I'm off base, though.

We aren’t looking at much value as far as a trade goes and as I said I don’t want to trade him for nothing....if the player and new GM can come to a friendly agreement then I’m good with that providing Puju gets a legit shot.....I just don’t want this drama as it is now to carry onto next season....there is enough negative crap with this group right now.....as I said in a prior post if there was ever a time to get said winger for Nuge then perhaps the time is now.....I just don’t see Keith pulling the trigger to make it happen.....the bright side is as you said we have guys in the AHL right now that can fill the voids on the bottom two lines and more importantly it’s cheap

I’m not going to make excuses for McDavid it was a head shot intentional or not.....some would argue that had the refs done thier job and called a penalty on Leddy prior to that then the headshot never happens....could be a fair point but the refs have struggled with consistency all year long....so he sits for 2 now

Don’t get me wrong, I love McDavid just as much as any poster on this board, but the hit (to me) appeared sneaky dirty right from the get go. I think it was born from the frustration he’s beginning to feel from all the non calls.

Yup. Refs need to stop swallowing their whistles against skill players. Barzal alone should have drawn 3 minors.

Which is the stuff I said would happen a while back....players no matter who they are can only put up with so much crap before they do something stupid out of frustration.....I don’t have an issue with the suspension but the league in general in the off season really needs to have a look at how games are being called and try to make some adjustments before more players get angry and do dumb poop in retaliation....it’s a league wide problem

Wasn't there 4 men on the ice in OT when the oil scored.

There was....see it’s the NHLs way of helping the Oilers to finally win a game....it’s part of the plan to ensure the Oilers don’t draft 1st again.....sure McDavid got suspended but they will work around it
