Bottom line, the Sens are getting an undersized dynamo from the Q who has yet to show that he can do better against heavier and better competition (Abramov was also Russia's worst forward at the WJC). But he's 20, and may have some things to work out.

They also probably have the best available 1st round pick. Columbus is a bubble team, so if they make it, it's maybe a 15th overall pick; if they don't and don't win the lottery, it could be anywhere from 12 - 14.

Davidsson and next year's 1st are probably not considerations in the mix.

Hidden in the weeds of this all is the fact that the Sens will be terrible next year. Which all but guarantees them a very good player. Addition by subtraction.

The next thing they do is find a good young goalie and give him a couple years of getting acquainted to the NHL before they’re contenders again.
