It’s probably a pairing next season and that pairing likely takes over as the “2nd pairing” this season.

How much trolling would one have gotten this past summer from Leaf fan if you had predicted that the leading candidates for Executive of the Year in the eastern conference this season would be Lamiorello and Bergevin?

I mean, he is not wrong.

But these GM and coach of the year awards are pretty weak. Chia and Dorion were nominated in 2017 and are awful.

It sounds odd, but if you are a top team you are better off not having your Gm nominated because you are likely a legit good team that was expected to be there and not some 1 season PDO spike with a .930 goalie

I agree. Trotz is definitely in the running for coach of the year I bet however I think Gallant deserves another one. Nobody expected them to really be a playoff team again, let alone in the hunt for another division title.

Meh i could see a depth player being added.

Zeitsev did look a little better - because he wasn't playing with Gardner. Just like Dermott looks like poop when he plays with Gardiner, just like Reilly is running around when he played with Gardiner. Zeitsev isn't very good, but he's not nearly as bad when he isn't playing with Gardiner, so of course it's time to reunite them...
