He's fine, but he wouldn't fit on the Flames second line. Putting him out against the other team's best every night would be a disaster. I was all for bringing in Hoffman before they got Lindholm, but now he's not the ideal fit.
They're also going to be looking for a return similar to what the big three should get since he has a year left. I also don't think the Flames should be adding another 5 million to next year's payroll.

Doubt he's a locker room issue, if he was, he wouldn't be crushing it in FLA. - rmull905

Based on what his coach is saying, I thinking he might have fixed some holes in his game down there. Agreed on the $5M, but we're also talking about adding Stone and seeking a renewal, and all things being equal, Hoff and Stone score at fairly similar rates, so it would be hard to argue $5M vs the $8+ Stone will command, and you can easily flip Hoffman if you had to.

Sure, but if he was a poopty teammate, I think you'd be hearing rumblings by now. Besides, it wasn't even him that did something. It's like calling my wife a jerk because i'm an bumhole..

Andersson's playing with Gio on the top pairing and Brodie's playing with Prout. Looks like Brodie's had one too many giveaways.
If Andersson can play top pairing, and from what I've seen of it so far I have no reason to believe he can't, then Brodie is expendable. I still think it makes more sense to wait until the draft to trade him, but if he's the piece that gets us and nice rental option at the deadline I might do it, depending on who that rental is. |

When teams see him go from the #1 pairing to the 3rd pairing I don’t suspect teams will be calling. And there is speculation that Brodie has a nagging upper body injury. |

Brodie is more than expendable. He's a detriment at this point. I don't think his positives outweigh the fact that he's pretty much guaranteed to cost them at least one playoff game by turning it over in his own end then flopping around on the ice. I'd rather see Prout. |

lol.
So trade deadline... Given the price for Duchene, expect that Stone is well beyond the reach of Treliving at this point.
Time to look for value outside of the big names. |

Yes, but I think there might be a dark horse name out there. Toffoli would be my choice. Think he would slot in well on the 2nd line. |

I agree. Interesting that Lavoie (sp) said the Flames were front runners for him. |

BT was scouting the Rangers-Wild game last night. Got to think we're looking at Zuccarello or Hayes, maybe McQuaid. Both Zuccarello and Hayes should be cheaper than Stone to acquire, but it depends on who else is looking at them.
With Hoffman asked to submit his 10 team no trade list, he's a dark horse option I'd be looking at too. Even Dzingel might be decent if Stone is too much (which if the Duchene trade is anything to gp by he will be). Stone or Panarin could still be options but Stone is probably too expensive and it looks to me like Columbus is going all in, and even if they weren't he won't be cheap either. |
