Hagelin is this year's Daniel Winick rental. In theory, he's been an elite play driver, two way presence, and has scored modestly throughout his career to make him seem valuable to the point that its tempting to ignore that he just doesn't produce anymore. - Victoro311
If the Pens didn’t have any quality players on the 4th line he’d be great. Personally, I don’t care that he doesn’t produce. I liked him with Geno. He took a lot of work off Geno’s plate and gave him room. |

Don't get me wrong. I love Hagelin to death and think he'd be a great fourth liner in his next contract if he comes in at less than $2 mil as he should. But by no means can you put a guy like Hagelin that doesn't produce anymore in the top 6 for an extended period of time, no matter how well he does everything else. That's why I'm not really complaining about Pearson's treatment despite the fact that I like his game. |

Watching the Flames play the Isles last night it's crazy that they Islanders are tops in our division.
They just collapse in their zone and hope the pucks hit them or their goalie.
They do bury their chances though. Shots were like 26 to 8 and it was 2-2. - Thorny87
Sounds like the Pens when they won the cup a few years ago. |

It is 3.75m and for 2 more years. Gonna be a tough sell for most teams. - Feds91Stammer
interesting tweet...Pearson one of only 25 players with 15+ goals every year from '15-18 |

Ottawa might. They are going to be losing a lot of bodies.
I’d offer ZAR and Pearson ($1M retained) for Dzingel and see what they’d say. - Rinosaur
That's a big no. I must like ZAR way more than most people... |

ZAR's a pigeon. He's a high end passenger that's capable of playing up to or down to the skill of his line mates. He's exactly the type of player that you need to worry about when thinking about committing $$$ and term because you never know if he'll be able to produce if he falls down the lineup.
I like Zach. For an ELC player he's pretty useful, and I think he's definitely an NHL talent. I may end up hating him if he's extended for middle six money if he keeps producing alongside Malkin. |

You mean the burying chances part? You'd expect the Pens top tier talent to finish. Isles top players are a step down in talent but they are getting it done. |

This is exactly my issue with him. If the Pens are going to trade for a LW then he’s basically useless in the lineup because he goes back to the 4th line where he skates like he’s in mud and shoots as hard as a pee wee.

Awkward how he gets the 3rd most ice time then. Both 5v5 and all situations. - Feds91Stammer
Well Schultz has been injured, Maata has been bad or injured, Peterson came in part way through the season and Oleksiak was traded.
Kind of proves my point. He is a bottom pair player who has been asked to take tougher matchups due to those circumstances. Add to the fact he has had to play his off side and no wonder his numbers suck. |

By no means am I under the illusion that JJ is a great player. He's ok for depth but is paid too much.
Keep in mind though, the Pens always play loose, one way hockey in the regular season and just take it easy. The D as a whole are going to look a hell of a lot better once the games start to count and forwards actually help out in their own end. |

I mean people said the same thing last year and it never happened. The defense was a mess and we were a one line team. But if the right personnel moves are made once Maatta comes back and Johnson is kept to the 3rd pairing, I think we'll be ok. |

I guess I can't relate. Never really hated a team except maybe the late 90s Avs. |

Well over the last 3 months he's a +6 and has looked much better than Oct & Nov when he was thrown all over the place.
Johnson is just shy of a PPG player in the playoffs over his career. And if we are keeping score, they sat him for one game and got blown out to lose the series in that game. |

I totally agree. The rivalry has just been way more relevant and the Flyers aren't nearly has hateable as they used to be after losing Scott Hartnell. |

I don’t think it will take too long for Bjug to settle into his 3C role and once he does the Pens will be in very good shape even if they made no more changes.
IMO it really comes down to Geno and Sid clicking on all cylanders and the same time. If they can do that with Bjug making the 3rd line productive they can swap chances with just about anyone. |

Since Dec. 19th (3 months ago) he’s a -5 at 5v5, but sure.
