I'm all for the Lucic trade, we need more grit up front. Sucks its' 4 more years of his deal.

Rather have Simmonds.

Faster, better hands, and still physical

You two are like Statler and Waldorf.

Let me find you guys a balcony - you can just sit up there and heckle the GM, egg on that tool Harrington and that fat slob Gleason.

- Powerslave

That would be awesome PS! Hey Botterill, thy armor was forged by a feeble fingered peasant woman... Your mom!

No, please no.

Simmonds will be Lucic bad in 1-2 years.

If you can sign him to a 1 year deal then sure.

Why?

You finished with 62 points last year.

You are currently on pace for 88 points this year.

I think the main problem is that you over-achieved in the 1st half of the season, and your expectations were raised higher than they should be.

A 24 point improvement is probably more than anyone should hope for.

Hope may be dying for the playoffs this year, but the future looks pretty bright for the Sabres.

Offseason dream acquisitions...
FA's
1)Stone 7 years, $8.5m
2)Dzingle - 7 years, $5.5m
3)Strahlman - 2 years $3.5m

Hockey Trade
Risto + Sobotka for Trouba (signed)
Nylander + ? for Puljujarvi
2019 7th to Sens for 2020 6th

I'd love Hayes, but am counting on Mitts to take the 2C in 2020-2021 and Hayes at say $7m is just not going to cut it on 3C

I'm done here fvckers (mic drop)

Stole this from Oiler thread:

Would you move Puljujarvi if it meant unloading the Lucic contract in the deal. Obviously it would mean not a lot coming back. The value would be dumping the Lucic salary cap anchor.

Would you do it Oiler fan?

Another early first rounder on the way out in Oil land. I honestly think Lucic would bring a lot of positives to this team as a teammate. Its obvious his on ice play sucks, but if Okposo goes to LTIR, Botts could get 2 players that could fit the roles the Sabres are looking for on the cheap.

This has Bottcoin written all over it.

- washedup20

4 more years after this one, at a $6 million cap hit.

Good luck with that.

Appreciate the input

Edit:

Its obviously not a good contract, but you could move very little to obtain a young top 5 drafted played still on ELC and adding much needed grit. Its a Botts type move IMO.

Yes we all understand its a bad contract.

Or all the rest of his trades.
He has brought in 8 guys not counting Berglund on this roster.
23mm in cap space
87 total points this year.

- ImThatGuy

Who did we trade out again? A bunch of studs with a ton of value I assume

No he traded crap for crap and then expected it to be good enough.

He built this team by basement shopping, and shockingly this team is heading towards the basement, again.

Also traded 2 guys who have a combined 110+ points. (Knowing they needed to go)
For
25 points.

He has not done a good job at bringing in talent to help this roster in trades.

We are not fvcking around here

Mark - we are building something special here. Jack took less. Skinner is a greedy pig. We want you on that top line, but dont be like him...help us to fill out the roster so you can have your name etched in silver 2, 3, even 4 times and still retire rich. What ya say here Mark? Vinny over there has other appointments we need him to "tend" to. Pick up the pen! Now!!

It might make sense for a team that is perennially under the cap, but Sabres aren't usually a team with a lot of cap space, no?

Lucic and Pjufifjfifuffjijijiji for Carolina's 5th rounder.

Lucic isn't underperforming - he's no longer able to perform.

I get you want to buy low. But it makes no sense to buy low if it's only going to sink lower.

As per my email above, it's a good idea if you are Carolina.

It's not a good idea for any team that doesn't have $6 million in cap space that would otherwise go to waste.

Do we have to start to wonder if Eichel may be a bit of a problem?

This team has zero fight, it’s a representative of its leaders, no?

If Carolina pulled that off and Jesse pool-barney becomes the player he expected to become, dope move Carolina. I wonder what Lucics post game celebration will be?????

Carolina's post-game celebrations average 2 minutes and 14 seconds, so I'm guessing Lucic will simply use that time to skate from the blueline to the gate for the dressing room.

*This year*

Skinner replaced Kane as the winger they are willing to pay big $ to.

The legit criticism of JB could be that he didn’t bring in a legit top 9 center to shelter CM.

- sbroads24

Berglund & Sobatka aren’t helping us next year either

And like I’ve said before...
While Skinner & Mitts “replace” Kane & ROR,
that just keeps us at the status quo of the past
which is clearly not good enough

We still need to ADD another “Kane” and another “ROR”
