I saw a report yesterday on Hockey Feed that said that a Matthew Duchene just recently bought a house in the Nashville area. Could be a different Duchene, but makes you wonder. - Wingsfan61
You just gave Ek his next blog. You're now a highly ranked league executive. Congrats! |

He bought it in November as a rental property. Lazy reporting. The date is stamped on the damn certificate |

I can't see Poile trading away a roster play plus a top prospect plus a pick, just for a rental. If he believes Duchene is the answer, that's his call, but I can't see him parting with the top two prospects and/or solid roster player plus a 1st rounder for just Duchene.
I'd love to see a huge blockbuster deal, with two solid roster players plus the top Nashville prospect and a 1st rounder to Ottawa for Duchene/Stone if they were willing to sign and trade to extended deals.
To Ottawa:
Subban
Fiala
Tolvanen
2019 - 1st Round Pick
To Nashville:
Duchene (re-sign 3years @ $7MM per)
Stone (re-sign 3 years @ $8MM per)
Nashville could move Hamhuis up to second pair & Fabbro to 3rd pair for playoff run. Nashville's forward lines would look like this:
Forsberg-Johansen-Arvidsson
Smith-Duchene-Stone
Jarnkrok-Turris-Boyle
Hartman-Bonino-Sissons
That's a roster that could compete for a Cup. I'm sure it won't happen. But man it would make a huge splash! Come on Poile. Do it! - holycow_75
I doubt Stone is looking to accept a number lower than his request during arbitration (8.5m), especially after a career year. Same goes for Duchene, why would he ask for such a small increase after his season plus they both get to say they did it on a terrible team. |

FFS people it’s a stab at a trade relax. I know that is an overpayment. - KINGS67
How dare you propose a fake trade on a fake blog with fake rumors!!!! You should be ashamed of yourself!!! |

If it was such a big deal that Duchene bought a house in Nashville then the Jets will be trading All of their players to Florida, Minnesota, Toronto and New York as their entire team owns homes in these places.
I guess things just got really interesting!!! |

Kings managed to win by trading Schenn and Simmonds to Philly for Richards. So it might not be so bad but yeah it’s a huge risk - KINGS67
Richard was considered at worst a 2nd line center at the time and also signed long term. Both Sens players are UFA at the end of the year.
Also it's not like the Preds window is closing. They have cap space, with no one major that needs re-signing. I don't think this needs to be they year that they go all in. |

Yes but still traded 2 top prospects for an older player. I believe Duchene will sign with NSH if traded there so it would be similar, if signed of course. |

He'll have to get registered at the league office. I hope they're not too busy dishing EK their sweet takes to get him his credentials. |

Yes. It's also why so many trades aren't announced until well after 3 pm on deadline day. The league office is notified by the teams making the trades. But then the league office needs to have it approved by Ek. Ek tells the owners and GMs if it's allowed. He uses his high ranking league sources to tell him what's going on. |

We don't need the guy if it means trading our young guns, especially if he's just a rental. I'd rather just play with who we have and maintain the ability to recharge in a year or two.
Besides, who's going to beat Tampa in the finals? This is a bad year to bet the farm on a rental. |

I'll say it again. No one thought the 86 Oilers, 93 Pens or 96 Red Wings would lose either. That's why they play the games. E5 |

wasn't Johanson going down a huge factor in you guys not winning a cup? Makes sense to shore up depth on C in case that happens again. Or is Fisher planning on another return? |

Tampa is easily the best team in the league. The problem is that they have been for a couple years now.
but THIS year, I don't see anyone beating them. I think the Leafs could give them the toughtest challenge, but the Leafs won't get by Boston, again. |

On paper Tampa should win the Cup. But alot can change between now and April. No one saw the Caps winning it last year. Everything came together for them and guys like Eller stepped up. Tampa is the clear favourite but they have to earn it. They know that. Nothing will be given to them. |

Wasn't Tampa Bay on a similar tear last year around this time and everyone had them pegged for the Cup? I think they ended up slowing down after the trade deadline (likely chemistry issues with the trades they made and not having McDonagh as he was injured). But it just goes to show, absolutely nothing is guaranteed. I'm actually surprised at how often people just assume Team A and Team B will be meeting in the finals. Since when have NHL playoffs ever gone the way people expected them to go. |

The real winner will be the Sharks who will get to beat a tired and beaten up Preds/Jets team in the WCF. Just like Vegas last year. |
