_____-McDavid-Draisaitl
_____-RNH-_____
Khaira-_____-Gagner
Lucic-Brodziak-Currie
Klefbom-Larsson
Nurse-Sekera
Russell-Benning
Koskinen
_______
We'll have to wait and see how Sekera trends, but signs are positive for now on keeping him over Russell. Remove Russell from the equation and retain ~1mil of his cap and we save around the same as we would if we bought out Sekera (~3mil). That's enough to improve our D corps with the acquisition of Gudas. With that, our defense is at an adequate level and is deep enough to be considered competitive.
Klefbom- Larsson
Nurse- Gudas
Sekera- Benning
Gravel, Persson, Jones, Bouchard, Bear, etc
The big fix has to come for the forward corps. Retained salary buyout of Lucic gives us more than ample cap space (between 3 and 4mil/year) to add one middle-6 forward (via trade or UFA), the cap increase another one (~3mil) and one more through internal player development.
That gives us 3 middle six player or the possibility of one higher cost winger (Stone please) and our internally developed player. Rely on our AHL team to provide a couple 4th line capable players and sign a PTO player when that time comes.
Draisaitl- McDavid- Puljujarvi
Johansson- RNH- Coyle
Khaira- Marody- Kassian
Gambo- Gagner- Russell
Brodziak, PTO, Benson, McLeod, Currie and Maksimov
Do some rearranging and maybe you could pull in Stone and rely on Benson and another PTO in place of Johansson, Coyle and Kassian. Or maybe a Nuge trade to bring back a forward and a depth option (Zucker+). Regardless of which direction we go, the team is gonna live and die by how Koskinen and his backup (Stolarz, maybe?) can perform behind this team. I don't like those chances |

HomeNHL Rumors
NHL Rumors: Hall, Duchene, Capitals, Devils, More
BY JIM PARSONS FEBRUARY 20TH, 2019
In today’s rumor rundown there is news on the Washington Capitals who are making surprising waiver wire plays, some whispers about a potential Taylor Hall reunion with the Edmonton Oilers and Marcus Johansson being available out of New Jersey.
Lots Going on In Washington
It was first reported in the morning the Washington Capitals were placing Dmitrij Jaskin on waivers. Not long after, a big shift changed and Jaskin wasn’t put on waivers but Devante Smith-Pelly was. The move was quick and a bit surprising.

Elliotte Friedman later tweeted, “Todd Reirden said it was ‘an organizational decision’ to make the waiver switch. Indicated there are things going on behind the scenes. ‘There is lots going on right now.”
Does that mean the organization is unhappy with Smith-Pelly? One has to think he’ll get claimed off of waivers considering his playoff performance last year for the Capitals and his relatively low cap hit. Does it mean the team has a trade in the works for Jaskin which meant he didn’t need to go on waivers?

Taylor Hall to Edmonton Buzz
Friedman also stated that the Edmonton Oilers should take a second to see if Taylor Hall is potentially available out of New Jersey and if he is, inquire as to what it would take to bring him back. As expected, those comments created all sorts of buzz on social media in Edmonton. - oilpatch
Please no to hall, hes always hurt and is terrible defensively

Without looking I’m going to guess bottom 5 easily....with the exception of Jones I can’t think of any call ups that have had much success....not that the opportunity has really been given either....my main reason for not wanting any of them to be called up right now....Currie I could understand but such a waste....I guess we do need to continue to make room for guys like Lucic or Reider or Chiasson in the top 6 tho....thier current production is rather difficult to replace - RatedR80
And why was Jones relatively successful (despite his struggles)? I'd say it's in part because he was given a genuine chance at playing with good players in a role that we want him to occupy in the future. |

That and he wasn’t rushed up right away....he had time to play with the Condors....he wasn’t rushed into a situation he wasn’t ready for....it really pays to be drafted outside the first round when it comes to the Oilers

Not official but hearing the trade is Coyle to BOS in exchange for Ryan Donato and a fifth-round pick. Details to come.
