I don’t think Hayes is the type of guy that gets traded then comes back. Everyone talks about it like it’s common occurrence yet it RARELY happens, I can’t even think of the last time. If anyone would do it I could see Zucc. Guy loves being a NYR, I could see him coming back but not Hayes.

Best case of this happening is if Hayes is traded to a poopty city and realizes how much he likes/misses NYC

It seems like we had Esa Tikkanen (one of my all time fav Rangers) about 10 times. I think you are right though, rarely does it happen. We don't know what Hayes is thinking though, while it's possible that he would hold be traded against us, maybe he doesn't care and would sign with us if we were the highest bidder.

Rangers should be rooting like hell for Stone to re-sign in OTT. If he stays Hayes becomes the most attractive two-way guy out there

I think there is a better chance of people give that Stone neither resigns or gets traded. Ottawa is asking for the moon and I think they will dig their heels in too deep. Hayes might be the more attractive option just being a more realistic target for teams.

There is absolutely no way Ottawa can walk away from this deadline without either trading him or re-signing him. They need to stockpile as many assets as humanly possible since they're going to be missing out on a top-3 pick in the draft.

If they roll the dice on re-signing him after the deadline and, he ultimately leaves, there is going to be a literal riot in Ottawa. If they're confident enough that he really wants to play there, they'll move him and go after him again in UFA.

Was just about to fall asleep and got a call from a trusted source telling me "#NHLBruins ready to try the Hayes family again! B's are frontrunners for #NYR C Kevin Hayes if they miss out on Stone or Panarin."

Will post more on @CLNSMedia tomorrow!

I didn't say he was a good source. But he works for them so take it a face value.

I think for all intensive purposes, they are trying to trade him. I just think given the fact they don't own possibly the #1 pick, they are going to try to overcompensate for that. It's going to go down to the wire. This is not a well run franchise, there is a chance they either get pennies on the dollar, or just simply run out of time in trading him. I think even Ottawa realizes they have zero chance of resigning him.

I don't know what Sweeney will do. He's been good and bad as the Bruins GM.

I also look at it this way, if Stone gets traded to somebody in the East, another team in the East will panic and trade 4 first rounders for Hayes

If they aren't willing to give up a first, they probably won't get any of those guys. I honestly don't know what they should do. They seem like a team that shouldn't be trading away more young assets, but this might be their last chance at a run with Marchand, Chara, etc.
