National tv Eddie is articulate and insightful. He injects what I think is an appropriate amount of enthusiasm without going over the top.
- Spec41971

Eddie had a slip saying "we" dodged a penalty when the Hawks had too many men on the ice and wasn't called.

Can Perlini be sent to Rockford without clearing wavers?
He needs more development.

I think it's going to be one of those 'the wheels fall off' type of game, the Hawks are due for one of those.
- DarthKane

It seems like they match up well against the Avs. One scoring line, weaker defense?

No because I think he is no longer on an entry deal?

I didn't phrase my post well (sometimes I struggle with the English - it being my first language and all ) - what I meant to say was that Keith is the best defender but I may be changing my vote for second best defender to KooKoo.
- EbonyRaptor

Small sample size. He is just the shiny new toy and we haven't seen his flaws as consistently yet. Mantha blew by him last night like he wa standing still. His footwork was pretty (frank)ing terrible.

For all the grief Forsling gets(not from you btw), people tend to forget how outstanding he played the first half of last season until he seemed to either lose his confidence or Q's confidence in him. I am fine if they give up Forsling in a trade but the recency bias can be a bit much at times.

I am as guilty of it as anyone else.

You mean the past two haven't been? final score aside, they gave up 11 goals in two games. I know it is a ton to ask, but I would love to see them hold a team to one goal.

For a period, doable, for a whole game, unlikely

He's always been a guy that hid his defensive deficiencies behind solid offensive numbers. Sound familiar?
- nickmo2699

There have been plenty of examples of offensive D-men that have improved their games in their own zone. Guys like Doughty, Karlsson, Burns, Green and others were all horrible in their own ends but have improved since. Gus is older than any of them, so maybe you can't teach the old -d new tricks, but maybe with a full season in the NHL he can learn (most likely not). Some guys also also will just never get it. Leddy is still brutal in his own end, Big Buf, while he is a physical presence, is an awful D-man in his own zone, there are plenty of top 4 d-men who can't play D. If Gus can continue to be an offensive force then he is a useful piece.

Thanks for input. Wow Klingberg that bad. Had no idea he was so bad. Maybe he has regressed somewhat.

Sikura. Perlini was a top 12 pick in the draft and is (frank)ing terrible in every aspect of the game.

Not as a top 4 d-man though, just to be clear. Right?

I think Gus is useful and someone that is needed for our PP to continue to be lethal. But that is why a lot on the board are pushing for a solid D-man to allow Gus to truly have limited minutes!

Gustafsson can play defense. i have seen it. lol. He just seems like he loses interest or something in doing it. Strangely, he seems to play be better defensively when paired with Seabrook. There was an interview last season where Gustafsson said that he really likes playing with Seabrook cause he yells at him when he make mistakes and that he understood it as Seabrook basically telling he has the ability to be better.

Not as a top 4. As a 6 and PP QB. That should get him 15 mins or so of protected minutes a night when he can be effective and not kill you defensively.

Yep, he's 22, if he can accept the 4th line role, and more importantly get stronger especially on his skates he could be pretty good. Hayden every year seems harder to knock off the puck

Sikura is a kid that has to adapt to the speed of the NHL game. When he realizes that he has far less time than he did in college or the AHL he will be fine. The instincts are generally there, he has created some chances. I think once he breaks the seal and gets his first goal he may relax a little bit. He needs to cut down on the turnovers at the blue lines, those are his most egregious ones. Get it in, get it out. Either blue line is a bad spot for turnovers.

When a young small slick playmaker come on to the Hawks they try to be Patrick Kane. TT, Hino, Schmaltz, etc... They need to be themselves, remember what made them successful in the past and figure out what they need to do to be successful in the NHL in the future.

TT has had some success, but it took a little while. I think Schmaltz will too (eventually).

It's not his skill set BTD. I watch him and he just looks lost. He's on the 4th line. Run around finish your checks and capitilize when you get the opportunity. Often times he is covering air and standing around.
