That's one of my favorite fights of all time. Joce could throw them for sure. Remember when we'd line up Peluso, Joce and Grimson against the Probert line. Probably my favorite Hawk period other than the Cup wins of late of course.
- Popsghostly

Yup. I just looked up that 90-91 roster, in addition to who you mentioned, Dirk Graham, Steve Thomas, Dave Manson, Chelios, Bob McGill. They had some bangers back then with the psychotic Mike Keenen coaching them.

I met McGill and Grimson at a Hawks function around that time. Two of the nicest guys you would ever met.

Adding capable bottom 6's may actually improve our PK and overall defensive game. This should not cost a lot. Our top 6 right now can go against most top 6's in the NHL.

I am hoping that this is the route Stan takes because it will not derail our rebuild.

100%! Honestly, I am shocked he didnt claim DSP off waivers. 1mil cap hit and up after this year. I know about the incident that happened last year, but he would be a great bottom 6 piece that has playoff experience. It would also cost nothing to claim him.

Playing run and gun hockey with no regard to defense with most of the action in the Hawk end, being outshot almost every game and with a terrible penalty kill isn't sustainable. However it's fun watching them win. And maybe I'm wrong, maybe one way pond hockey is the wave of the future?

On a different topic, I thought Tirico did a fantastic job of announcing, especially since this was his first time broadcasting hockey. He was clear, concise, knowledgeable, and sounded like he has been doing this for years.

He would just be replacing Hayden, I would rather just go with Hayden. We have Kunitz, and Kruger for 4th line duty if you need playoff experience.

Thought the Vanek non-call last night was unfortunate. All 4 officials missed the play. In the future, that type of incident needs to be reviewable. The NHL doesn't need to review things like the NFL. But, when a guy is leaking from his lip to the bottom of his chin, it needs further investigation IMHO.
- gabriel

Good point. Maybe give a team one review per game (for on-ice incidents that aren’t reviewable under the current rules). Use the review and it is determined you are correct, keep the review for use later in the game. Use the review and you are determined to be wrong, no more reviews and a two-minute penalty.

A win is a win...…

more of the same. All offense, dumpster fire on the back end as Murphy looked BAD.

I love national tv Eddie O when isn't stuck in between Pat Foley gushing comments about Keith and can actually speak to more intelligent audience. That tying goal last night again is Keith getting back doored and this time he wasn't able to stick check it away.

But Im sure it was all Gustafsson's fault......glad to see JC has stuck with 56 starting with 19/88 over 2. 56 has some amazing offensive vision for a defender and is a weapon that is vastly underrated by many in how much impact he has on the offensive side...…...

- SteveRain

National tv Eddie is articulate and insightful. He injects what I think is an appropriate amount of enthusiasm without going over the top.

Gotcha…….I figured but had to double check.

Kane continues to amaze me each and every game......

- SteveRain

Hard to comprehend but he has really elevated his game this year. You hear professional athletes say they don’t really good until they can slow the game down....with Kane it seems like he is letting you see his slowed down game. He looks relaxed and comfortable with the puck and almost like he is telling his opponents what he is going to do to them, and then he goes and does it because they can’t stop him.

I don't think Stan does anything if at all until after he sees where the Hawks are after the games with Colorado and Dallas this weekend.

It's more about cap space after this year.

I prefer to give Forsling games until Christmas but only if he is playing better. You cannot wait forever and he could be assigned to Rockford. The fact is he has certain things that make him a desirable dman. But we cannot wait real long for him to improve. Eventually he has to be really good perhaps in Rockford then much better here.

Forsling may never get to that point. You see how sometimes a player has the ability and gains enough experience....then gets an opportunity at the right time. See Koekkoeck. There are plenty of prospects in the system yet none of them is probably ready next September. That is, after Jokiharju.

Sometime next season some Rockford kids and possibly Beaudin and or Mitchell could get a serious look. So Forsling is on the clock. Just remember, too, no one saw Gus coming along.

You can bet this is how Bowman thinks about Forsling development. Makes no sense to throw him away in a trade which is going to make little impact anyway.

More proof that this little warm streak is simply a mirage.

It pretty much is. though, its not like they are riding a high PDO given the mediocre goaltending they are getting. which counteracts their SH%.

No one likes to bring it up because they feel sorry for what happened to him, but Konstantinov was on of the dirtiest pieces of poop to ever lace them up. (frank) him.

Agree 100%. A total waste of a human being, if ever there was one. A genuine hate filled Richard. He played to maim.

Not sure if you saw or not since your question, but Drake took a stick under the visor from Toews. No cut, but apparently he was swollen up a bit. No word yet on if or how long he might be out.

The goal he scored on the 2 on 1 looked like he was playing in a scrimmage. OK lets go at 50% speed, aim at just inside the far post, go to the bench, next.

He's a rookie with 21 games under his belt. Give him some time. He may or may not be an NHL player or figure into the Hawks plans but he needs more than 21 games for anyone to figure that out.
- paulr

Kid is a 6th round draft choice. Has 9 points in his 21 games. One of the few players sporting a plus Corsi at ~54%. He has already beaten the odds just to be in the NHL given his draft position. Yes, he made a terrible pass last night but most overlook the 3 stellar defensive play he made.

He is a rookie who has mostly been getting inconsistent ice time. But let's judge him after 50 or shifts.

Could be 11-10 in overtime. No sense in getting defensive at this point in the season.

Any trade involving Gustav Forsling is complicated by the fact that every other team in the NHL has professional scouts that can see what we all see. Forlsing ain't that good.

Stan with rundbland.
We got drake for Davidson which just losing his contract was good.

Colorado has been Jeckyll and Hyde. Dallas however will be on game 3 in 4 nights and has a huge issue scoring more than 2 goals a night. The hawks should have no problem getting 4 points to finish out the week and being a WC team. And for all of those that had futures bets on WPG, what the hell has happened to them the last 10 games or so?
- nickmo2699

With our defense it is just as likely to win or loose by a football score. I wonder when Johns is returning from injury. Heiskenen, Klingman, Liddell is good. Murphy, Keith, Koekkoek is very comparable but the team defense and goaltending edge i give to Dallas.
