Still, it's hard to be excited at such a horrible team that wins, although if they make the playoffs and win the Stanley Cup and go down as the "worst team ever" to win the Cup, I think we can all live with it.

I guess just enjoy the ride however long it lasts.

Look I get it, we were spoiled for a long time here being able to lock down games etc....but it is a different league. Ottawa and Detroit do that to everyone. Ottawa hung around and beat Winnipeg. Detroit came back on hot Flyers team.

It makes my point emphatically. This is not a 2 to 1 league anymore. The game is too fast, the talent too deep. EVERYONE can score and score quickly.

Agreed......and with Anisimov and Keith on the PK all the time, no wonder they're the worst in the NHL. They are too slow to be on the pk. I'd rather try Kahun or even a taller lanky Perlini than Anisimov and Kruger.

Yea they did, but that team had elite starting pitching and won the AL West by 20 games. I think a rival manager said the Sox were "winning ugly", which I am not so sure I like that or agree with it. Sounded like sour grapes.

You have a rotation of Lamar, Dot, Britt or Floyd and hitters like Baines, Walker, Law, Fisk, Luzinksi and Kittle you can do damage. That team's main weakness was the bullpen and a left side of the infield that could barely hit their weight.

The 1983 Sox were a real throwback team, put them in today and they'd lose 90 games (most of which they'd lose after the 7th inning).

They don't ask how ya get in, just if ya do get in. Don't see the Hawks as cup contenders but if they aren't gonna be in play for a top pick why not get into the Playoffs and try n make some noise. Whether a team is built to win a cup or not that should be the goal

Even if it's only temporary, the Hawks hold the last wild card spot, nobody thought that a month or so ago, nobody, and who knows? They're only 2 back of Dallas, crappy d or not, keep winning, get into the POs and roll the dice, anything can happen.

The only thing was Gus was still out there. Was a 1.15 minute shift. Long change.

Plus, have to be able to win 1 draw in OT. Toews has been brutal on draws when they count at end of games lately.

Defense wins championships, in every sport.

What happened to that great LA Ram offense against the Patriots?
Good pitching still beats good hitting in the post season in MLB, every year.
As bad as defense is in the NBA, the Warriors were better on D too.

And whomever wins the Stanley Cup this year will be the better defensive team.

On the way home tonight the game was on NHL Radio with the Detroit feed. The analyst said Colliton realized the strength of the Hawks is offense and the weakness on defense. He realized the Hawks are not going to win 2-1 games, son he is going to play uptempo and hope the Hawks can outscore their opponents.

He also commented on DeBrincat that the reason he didn’t go higher in the draft was the fact he played with McDavid one year and Strome the next and the scouts thought his goal totals were primarily due to those 2 then his scoring ability, more so than his size.

Well thank the lord for that. I feel like I just aged a couple of years watching that.
