Coyle never really fulfilled his promise, Boston is home for him.

Skinner is a good choice.
- Taylorst1
Except he wants north of 8M and he isn't very good defensively, either. He is one dimensional. He is good at that dimension but the Hawks have that dimension.

Latest Athletic article is a trade deadline primer. Obviously, take it for what it is but two things stood out:

1) Keith, Seabrook, Kruger, AA, and Kunitz don't have any interest in being traded at the deadline (and all have varying levels of no-movement clauses). No mention about Ward.

2) According to Lazerus, he has heard consistently from several sources that Boqvist is a long way away from the NHL. Yes, he is offensively gifted, but right now he is another undersized puck mover who is unwilling or unable to do anything defensively.

I forgot who mentioned it in previous blogs, but the notion that Mitchell is/could be ahead of Boqvist sounds like it is a real thing.

If that is the return, I think keeping Saad makes more sense. IMO, Saad is a better player than Coyle. May not be by much but he is better.

Plus the Wild don't have Stan "I'll take your underperforming top 3 pick" Bowman making the deal...

Who then do the hawks have to fill that 3c hole with consistency?

Kahun? He is playing with strome and cat right now and doing a nice job.

Sikura IMO I think they have doubts about him .

- Taylorst1

So we have to go out in FA and beat the open market offers and hand him $8 mil per

No thanks

Unless there is a deal that blows the hawks out of the water saad is not going anywhere. Just my opinion

Noticed something interesting on CapFriendly. The Jets have 5.5 in Cap space this year, 10 players going to either UFA or RFA this summer and currently only 41/50 contracts.

Not sure if that is good or bad roster management, but it was interesting (to me).

And they have Trouba, Laine and Connor as RFA's that they have to resign. TBL & TOR in the same boat.

I know it would be giving up very early on one who was supposed to be one of our young D saviors, but maybe they should have listened to the London coaches about turning him into a forward. Maybe they still can. Sounds like between Beaudin and Jokiharju and their performance this year, we may have other, better future D leaders.

Maybe. Considering that it sounds like he is years away, that may be an option. I'm intrigued by his potential, but I'm more interested in players like Joki and Mitchell who have shown a propensity for better D and overall game instead of just offense.

Coyle will be a good fit on B's 2nd or 3rd line. Sound defensively, can pop a few, plays with an edge. Good pick-up for Boston.

Remember reading somewhere that Beaudin may be on a faster timetable. Much better player defensively than Boqvist.

Both Joki and Beaudin are a full year older and should be further along in their development. Boqvist was one of the youngest in his draft class and is still growing.

I have seen a few accounts saying that Boqvist has made strides defensively. He made need another year in juniors or the AHL but that is pretty much what the thinking was when he was drafted. So he appears to be progressing as expected.

what is years away? More than 1,2,3-5, he is 18 years old, and a defenseman, and adjusting to smaller ice surfaces. Maybe he is years away, but I would wait to see if he ends up even close to what he is projected to be before trying him as a forward.

Even if Boqvist can improve his defensive game in London and a possibly a spell in Rockford before the big show, based on potential and progression, Jokiharju, Beaudin, Mitchell, and even Krys may be better all around defenders then him. Krys could surprise, not necessarily as a top 4 but as a solid 3rd pair type.

This also doesn't count the D in Rockford, particularly Carlsson, Hillman, and Gilbert. Gilbert has surpassed Hillman, IMHO, from what I have observed in Hog games and blueline lineups by the coaching staff. This isn't to say Hillman is already a never will-be but Gilbert has shown steady development to leapfrog him (at least for now as the tide can easily turn).

All of you make sense. Just thought we might have a potential 200’ C in the pipeline given his assist totals and D pedigree. Since they don’t grow on trees, thought may be an option.
