Depends on where the Flyers are in the next little while. I'm not sure the upgrade on D are currently in the organization. Pretty obvious they need to add to the group of Provy, Sanheim, Gudas and Myers. Hagg and Ghost need to play better or there positions should be in jeopardy come next year. Maybe Freidman next year? challenges for a spot. Its a young core that needs a quality type vet to help going forward.

I agree. The problem with Simmonds is that he's the 2nd tier of TDL players. The market hasn't been set yet with movement from Stone or Duchesne. Hopefully the Flyers can bring back at least a 1st and a body they can actually plug into NHL games.

I think he'll get 2-3 games. It wasn't as violent and dangerous as what Malkin did, but it was a completely unnecessary stick to the head that made contact and it was done by a repeat offender.

I have not heard or read a statement that keeping Simmonds for the rest of the season without re-signing him is off the table. Doesn't mean he hasn't said that, just that I haven't seen it.

Okay...I’ll try to find it for you.

So here are my probably wrong predictions for this week leading to TDL:

- Simmonds gets moved. If your not re signing him you need to move him.

- Raffl gets moved. He's a UFA and he is a depth piece to playoff team. Probably get a pick somewhere around 3-5 round range.

- I see another minor move like the Leier for Bailey swap. Which I like. I think Bailey has some upside moving froward.

- Lastly I see a defensman moving. Not sure who. Maybe MacDonald with money retained. He is a shot blocker which teams like and is a veteran with experience. Maybe Gudas if someone overpays. Value might never be higher. Could they move Gostisbehere. Would have to be a big return but I could see an instance where it happens. Not sure I would move him just yet but I don't think it's far fetched.

I have not heard or read a statement that keeping Simmonds for the rest of the season without re-signing him is off the table. Doesn't mean he hasn't said that, just that I haven't seen it.

Sucks he may miss the Stadium Series game now. Hopefully the NHL knows he’s good fuel for the rivalary fire with Pens and takes it easy. They’re are consistently inconsistent after all

Seemed to me that Simmonds played one of his more physical games in quite a while last night. Wonder if he was auditioning for Tampa...

Personally, I don't see why TB would trade for him and risk disrupting the good thing they got going on right now. However, dominant regular season teams, especially those primarily built on finesse, rarely hoist the cup. So maybe they'll feel that bringing in a guy that doesn't seem to fit at all will bring "skills" that they need to make it through the playoffs.

Problem is that TB would probably then view him as strictly a rental, and therefore not be willing to give up much. No matter who signs him to his next deal, they'll like be overpaying him. And given TB's cap situation, I can't see them even wanting to re-sign him after this year's run.
