I am not keen on trading ghost this year or this summer. I’m not convinced he’s 100% healthy. I want to see him come back next year with a fresh mindset. His contract is too good to trade him while his value is low

We arent making playoffs. But the surge led by the kids is very encouraging. Hart provy sanheim hagg tk Patrick lindblom and laughton all playing big roles I our come back from the pits of hell. Make trades that impact the next 3 years. Off season moves for that.

Theoretically they can. Realistically they aren't.
- MJL

Yep.

Assuming 96 points gets them into the playoffs they need to capture 75% of all of their remaining available points.

They've earned 52.5% of available points to date.

Root for the team but be realistic about their fate.

Ghost needs to be sent home for a week or two, he needs some time off. I'm at the point that i'd rather play Meyers and whoever the Dman was we traded for Weise than look at Andy Mac and Ghost out there. Ghost with a wrap up the wall leading to Andy Mac spinning on his knees while a guy buries the puck, please make it stop.

There are in fact several Phantoms d-man who could be tried in the 6th slot. In house options to provide sanity. I’m sure at least one of them has experience playing with Myers. Just saying...

First bold: I agree. I'm concerned because last week Fletcher said that the recent winning streak has changed his mind about how he's approaching the trade deadline.

Second bold: Yes! I also think we're eventually going to find out that Ghost has an injury that is compounding his mental issues.

What comments did he say that reflected he was changing his approach? I just remember reading he’s trying to improve for the 19-20 season

I'm not that mad. Playing Tampa for a whole series could do more damage than help lol. Let us believe were closer than we are.

Yes, IDK but if it’s gotten so bad that I have to close my eyes to keep my sanity than sitting is definitely an option. He is sometimes unwatchable.

I want him on the team and see him turning things around but right now he clearly needs to hit the reset button.

During one of the games last week one of the commentators mentioned that Fletcher was asked if the winning changed his thoughts and they said he said yes.

Sorry that's so vague, I really don't remember which game it was, but I remember being surprised by that answer; that's why it stuck in my head.

I really hope that I mis-heard the comment or that the comment was flat out incorrect.

We knew they needed to win a certain amount of their remaining games to get in to the playoffs. We all knew this game was probably not one of them. Nothing has changed.

Stay the course.

You heard it right, why wouldn't it change his mind? Even through this winning he hasn't gave Simmer some huge contract, I would hope our GM would watch, analyze, and adapt.

My Game Observations:

- MacDonald/Gostisbehere pairing is just bad. Wouldn't be surprised to see Myers in thursday.

- Sean Couturier has been our best player for a while now outside Hart.

- Still need to move Simmonds, like others have mentioned "you hope for best but still need to proceed forward accordingly"

- Gudas might get a game for that slash.

- Hart, not his best night but also there was some bad play in front to.

- Great seeing Linblom continue to produce.

- JVR seems to be back to being a little invisable again.

I think I read that too. But I also read another where he said no. I maintain that winning makes minor changes to Fletcher’s plan...but basically doesn’t change the goal or outcome for next season and moving forward. Winning is also good for the kids, team, organization and fans.

There are moves that really do need to be made.

It is very clear that the Flyers could only make the playoffs if they basically go on an insane winning streak with other teams dropping games. Really, not very likely. With or without Simmonds the Flyers are not going to make the playoffs. With or without Gudas, the Flyers are not going to make the playoffs. It is necessary to instead look at the team and decide who will be here next year and how do you make the team better by "spending" assets that you currently have.

I’d really like to see the top 3 centers shuffled and leave the wingers as they are. They need a mini shake up.

Lindblom- G -Voracek
Laughton- Coots -Simmonds
JVR- Patrick -TK

Just being real, I love him, Coots is unique. In order for him to produce at 2nd line levels, he doesn’t need another playmaker. He needs guys that can get up on the play, battle on the wall and be in front of the net.

We need to maximize our players strengths.

Well, a lot of the same problems exist despite the winning, so I hope the big picture in his mind hasn't changed. Passing opportunities this week that would improve the team long-term for a fool's errand (this year's playoffs) would be a mistake imho.

Flyers are only six points out of a playoff spot.

Last time I checked this organization wants wins and they want them now! Fletcher should add the necessary pieces to make the playoffs.

Glad to hear the recent streak has changed his thinking. It’s obvious the current core has learned their lesson from the mistakes of the past three/four seasons. It only took three coaches and two GM’s for them to get it, but I believe they finally have!

It will be great experience for the youngins to get curb stomped by the Lightning in the first round.

it clearly hasn't, hes moved out dead weight, brought up some young guys in Meyers and Bailey, has not handed Simmer a contract either. What are you worried about again?

The team wants to win. I also want to win. They can do it. I can and will continue to believe. One loss doesn’t change the goal or the focus. One game...Thursday in Montreal. Win it.

I'm totally cool with that. In fact I applaud it from a fan perspective and also think that's how the players should feel. The GM however, should think differently.

This is one of those posts where it is really hard to understand without knowing you, or tone, body language cues.

I’ll just ask, was any part facetious?

That I don't agree with. Schlemko is not better than MacDonald.

The Flyers have one big chip to trade right now at the deadline as a seller. If this win streak has convinced him to keep Simmonds for the rest of the season and then let him walk or trade him for less at the draft, then he has made a bad decision.

agree with these. Not sure he changes lineup Thursday and inserts Myers...al though I think he should. I wouldn't be surprised if the Flyers are involved in other deals before Monday besides Simmonds.
