Yeah people need to get over themselves when they expect a team to carry all 60 minutes of play. Hockey’s too fluid for that. The first period was even, but that wasn’t because we were struggling. It was because both teams were fresh and we traded chances until we gradually began to take over. Then score effect happened. Last night was a good game for us. - Victoro311
Wait. Are we saying that playing a 60 minute game is one of those dumb hockey cliches? Hahaha |

Johnson baffles me in the same way Sutter baffles me. All statistical evidence points to them being bad, but I get that some people just don’t understand/give a damn about statistics, but everything about watching them play screams that they’re attractions as well and yet the coach/GM still love the guy. I understand the mindset of a person who would ignore the mountain of statistical evidence pointing to the fact that Johnson is a massive drag, but I don’t understand how anyone could watch him play and be like “yeah, that guys got something going on there.” - Victoro311
Coaches still over value hits and blocked shots.
Guy scores a goal, gets a nod form the coach. Guy blocks a shot in the third and it's like he saved the coaches family from a fire. |

Yes and no. There are certainly games where we come out flat or take our foot off the pedal, at which point I think saying we didn’t play 60 minutes is fair. But some people judge “playing 60 minutes” by whether or not we dominated play the entire game and I think that’s ridiculous and unrealistic. |

Yes. There's a big difference between the 60min cliche and what the Penguins have been doing all season. TBH, I don't think the Pens were all that great last night. Came out flat. Played better to end the 1st. Flat out dominated the 2nd and then struggled against a heavy forecheck for most of the third.
I don't know.... I tend to agree with Rino. Considering NJ is a bad team missing some key players, I would have liked to see a consistent effort. Not necessarily dominating, but a little more even effort considering their playoff position.
Murray was also pretty shaky again.....which is worrisome. |

He has been leaving too many live pucks in play lately. The pucks are just hitting him. He hasn't been doing a good enough job of covering up or even re directing it from danger. That leads to a lot of garbage goals in the playoffs when teams drive the net harder. |

Well someone beat me to the punch... but I say the Penguins were stupid for not trying Sutter on Malkins wing. That snap wrister he had was nearly as good as Kessels.

The case of Brandon Sutter is extra weird because he has been billed as a shut down center his whole career when his only redeeming traits are very clearly offensive. There is absolutely zero about his defensive game that would make old school hockey guys gush. He doesn't block shots, he's Charmin soft on the boards, and his positioning and instincts aren't anything special (doesn't generate take aways at any impressive rate). I really have no clue how he got that reputation. |

Didn’t mean to dump on you too hard there my dude. Strained my elbow at the gym yesterday due to very lazy row reps and I’m a bit surely because of it. Still think you’re wrong. - Victoro311
I think my comment went misunderstood. I don’t think the Pens played badly at all and I’m not skewed by the score adjustment in the third.
I loved the Pens effort and confidence. I thought they played well. The Devils just seem to know how to play them and aside from the 2nd I thought they were outplayed, not played poorly, just outplayed. |

No one really talking about (that I've seen anyway) the Caps making a big splash but you'd have to think they are going to try and get one of the big names in an effort to repeat. |

The 4th period has Washington listed as interested in:
Dzingel
That is it
They are very limited in space though.
Maybe a Burakovsky for Dzingel move? |

Given that everyone seems to be under the impression that Dzingel is gonna be the under the radar pick up of the deadline, id bet he’s gonna go for an overpay. |

Dzingel is going to be a solid pick up for whoever obtains him and his cap hit is only 1.8 mill, which is nuts for someone who has 22 goals and 22 apples already this season...both he and Bura are UFA's but I think the Sens are going to want some stuff for their future like a prospect(s) or a pick(s) in exchange. |

Hypothetically, would you be fine with the Pens spending their 1st on him?
I think they can fit him under the cap without moving out a player. |

Smith-Pelley could be an okay get. Still like Johansen from the devils. |

If Pearson, Simon, ZAR and Wilson are the Pens 4th line rotating wingers, DSP would be superfluous. |

Do the Pens need more forwards? I'm kind of leaning towards no. I'm not saying I wouldn't like a different player or two, but I don't think we need to expend our 1st rounder for Dzingel. Defense is where I'd look, but it's kind of the same situation if Maatta is coming back and JJ isn't coming out.
I'm not opposed to a hockey trade... Player for player, but usually sellers want picks and prospects.
