Joel Ward is a free agent though. Sign him before the deadline and he is playoff eligible. |

Realistically I will take a 3rd. Knowing the D market though I would push for a 2nd. |

How about a 2020 3rd rounder and a 2021 2nd rounder? That get it done? |

Your offer makes sense. You offered a premium due to the waiting time for the picks. Probably wouldn't take either pick by itself. |

Do the Pens need more forwards? I'm kind of leaning towards no. I'm not saying I wouldn't like a different player or two, but I don't think we need to expend our 1st rounder for Dzingel. Defense is where I'd look, but it's kind of the same situation if Maatta is coming back and JJ isn't coming out.
I'm not opposed to a hockey trade... Player for player, but usually sellers want picks and prospects. - madmike71
GMJR basically ostracized the public for their attacks on Jack Johnson. He will not be removed from the lineup. Maatta gets a spot too if healthy.
If any move is made it's for another forward. I could see them getting a LW or RW depending on price. I just cant see them making a splash without moving a solid contract as part of the return. I think getting Hornqvist and Kessel scoring again are as important as another trade though. |

How pro or anti would you be to a Pettersson-Jensen swap? Logic for the Pens being that we're playing Johnson regardless and Jensen would give us a natural RD rather than making Johnson even worse by playing on Pettersson's right. We have way too many LDs and could stand to get a better RD for the bottom pairing. |

It is a slight upgrade, but a RFa with good upside for an UFA. I dont like losing the controlled played for a rental. |

Well we're not dumping Johnson and we have 5 LDs under long term team control. We should either exchange Pettersson for an RD or trade Maatta and put Pettersson on the second pairing, which has serious bust potential. If Johnson wasn't in the picture, I'd totally agree with you, but he is and Sully and Rutherford don't share our opinions on him, so it is what it is. |

The case of Brandon Sutter is extra weird because he has been billed as a shut down center his whole career when his only redeeming traits are very clearly offensive. There is absolutely zero about his defensive game that would make old school hockey guys gush. He doesn't block shots, he's Charmin soft on the boards, and his positioning and instincts aren't anything special (doesn't generate take aways at any impressive rate). I really have no clue how he got that reputation. - Victoro311
I think you meant he's ten-ply...

I think at this point the best course of action is the Pens bringing in an upgrade at LW with Pearson going the other way. It's not that I don't like Pearson, but financially and roster-spot-wise it just makes the most sense.
