Minny losing 4-0
- VANTEL

Coyotes win in a SO, Blues 10-0 in their last 10. Ducks win again. 3 points separate 8th from 13th or some crazy poop like that. I think the Wild sell at the deadline and tank (they’re already full on tank anyway).

If Canucks lose Thursday I think Benning sells a couple players - Granlund for a Motte like return, Maybe Schaller for a late pick to a team like Tampa who might want to add a bit of grit for insurance. That’s about it, don’t think there is anything else that any other team would want, that the Canucks would be willing to part with.

I agree, those numbers are much improved. Stecher and Hutton deserve credit. As do Tanev and Edler obviously.

When certain players get injured, depending on who it is, you can see how the rest of the team responds. Pettersson goes down and the offence almost dries up, and the team is playing in its own zone for 2 3rds of the game. Tanev, Edler, Stecher Hutton are pressed that much harder, and Gudbranson, Pouliot are exposed as lacking the skills to defend the pressure.

Stecher and Hutton are playing much better this season, when all “D” are healthy. I like Stecher’s game this year, but him and Hutton cannot sustain high 25 - 30 mins a game.

Markstrom’s positioning has been solid, his puck tracking and reaction time has been pretty good considering having all these injuries that he has to adjust for.

The d has been better, healthy and hutton has taken a step. Recently though with edler/tanev out weve been losing. No surprise there.
- neem55

How many games have the top 4 been healthy though? And he also plays behind one of the worst 3rd d pairings in the league, you can't overlook that either.

Markstrom isn't a star by any means, but he's been a solid starter all things considered. We were spoiled by Lu/Schneider as all star goalies, but what Markstrom providing this season playing behind this defensively his basically what a solid/decent starting goalie in this league would give you. His sv% would probably be up a few points if the defense was actually good.

I'm still not 100% sold on him as a legit #1 goalie, but he's been solid since the shaky start to the season

Did Edmonton hold McDavid out of the lineup tonight? Making sure he doesn’t get hurt before the TDL...

Not trying to give credit to the crap defense, but, I question where the forwarďs are, when the breakout plays are happening.
I haven't seen the defense hold the puck behind the net, moreso than I have this year.
Tanev, who usually moves the puck quickly, has been caught holding on too long to the black disk, is it because the forwards are always out of position, or because it a convulutated system that these kids can't grasp, or is it because these players are just not ready for this type of system, on a regular basis?

Fighting the flu all week sleeping weird hours. After reading yesterdays comments my thoughts still stay the same. Fix the D. You have the money and you have all your picks.

Figure out who stays and who goes. With a D this bad I think at least half should be changed.

Get younger and get healthier skilled Dmen .

Stecher and Hutton are emerging. Edler and Tanev need to be moved along with Guddy and Pouliot. OJ and Hughes coming next year add a vet via UFA and all good.

But MNGT is so attached to Tanev Edler we will virtually get nothing for them.

I don’t mind too much Edler and Tanev being here next year, especially with how Stetcher and Hutton have played of late. Getting rid of Guddy and Poo opens up some spots for Hughes and OJ next year (Hughes to start, OJ midway through). Can flip Tanev at the deadline hopefully.

But Trevor was adamant that there would be no 3rd jersey this season. He lied to us! Why?

I was reserving Saturday night for the stadium series game, Flyers vs Penguins, but I guess I'll have to flip back and forth now and tape both games. Or whatever they call it, DVR?
