It still helps the Canucks keep close to the basement floor.

the hawks are just rolling , and with no Edler / Tanev we are not going to be able to keep pace imo , the boys fight hard and maybe we get some Philly luck and move way up in the draft

it's not tanking if the other teams win when we don't play it's more bad luck for the Canucks franchise

i could rehash all the bad we have had over the years , EP is a great pick , but if we had a little luck we would have Dubois/EP or god forbid Mattews/EP if not for no lotto luck

your young , but did you know the Nucks could have drafted Ray Bourque

Meh, complaining about bad luck is a weak excuse for this franchise.

If you have enough smart people work for your team, you rely less on luck. Of course luck still plays a big role, but the Canucks have historically had bad drafting compared to most teams. If you have below average drafting as a franchise then you don't deserve to complain about bad luck.

My worst case scenario is JB believes this is a playoff team and tries to improve for this season, costing them future success.

As long as they stay the course, follow the plan they had at the start of the season, I’ll be good, no matter where they finish in the standings. If the plan was to trade Tanev, then trade him. If it wasn’t, then don’t. Just don’t deviate.

I wish the draft was in Vancouver every year, you just know it's killing JB knowing that he's not allowed to trade 2019 picks for all of those exciting "project" players out there

Yeah, I’m surprised he didn’t throw in a 3rd to get Spoonsey. But Greatz jr. Might just be a worse “GM” than Benning.

Exactly

The Canuck's 2007 draft class is not bad luck, it's just.......................sucking.

"Like us"....are you kidding me? The Canucks were so lucky no one else saw the greatness of Pettersson except them. They guaranteed themselves a top six pick with a third last finish. As reported, they'd have taken Pettersson first overall if they'd have won the lottery so it all worked out in their favour.

If people choose not to see the luck for the Canucks there, I don't know what to say.

I mean bad luck as we always drop back at the lotto, not the pick itself.

Burkie on Edler : I would be leery about giving Edler any term. He is a marvelous player but he reads like a medical textbook with his injuries. And the Canucks need to be open and honest with him about that. He will want three years and I wouldn't consider that.

Both Edler and Tanev need to go but I fear we missed that boat yet again. Just like the Sedins being gone we would be just fine without Edler/Tanev. But people are soooo attached to them. They are both so injury-prone now there is no need to kepp them here at all.
