He's still 1 of the best players in the game, we just have the Blue & White goggles on for the most part. - Garnie
Not disagreeing.
But i could understand limiting his ice time until closer to playoffs due to age.
I wonder what his ice time was at 22 years old. |

Still scouting Carolina.
Where Bingo at?

According to a press box observer in Carolina last night, the Maple Leafs had two guys taking in Rangers-Hurricanes including AGM Laurence Gilman. The Leafs have scouted Carolina a lot but the Rangers would also be of interest to them.

Just doing due dillegence. I truly doubt Carolina is making any trades at this point considering how close they are now. Maybe the NYR. |

Since we are discussing Babcock. Does anyone else think Andersens injury in dec was slightly embellished? Right before xmas break or just after. Then they had a few weeks until all star and bye week. A way to get him some rest mid season? |

Not to believe in anything Ek says but....
Hayes would be a good add. With stone, Duchene and Panarin available this is the year to add a “secondary” FA.
In years past Hayes would be a top TDL target |

Leafs have a surplus of mid-level wingers.
Carolina has a surplus of mid-level defencemen.
I suspect something will happen. Nothing mind-blowing.
Like Johnsson for something. |

Yeah, Johnnson would appear the most likely to go in a “hockey” trade.
I wouldn’t rule out a Brown package for a rental...Browns gotta go anyways in the off-season. |

In all fairness, Matthews should be playing more. He is currently 82nd in the league in TOI.
While penalty kill time factors in to some of the players above him, a lot of them it doesnt. They simply get more time, and more opportunities to produce.
I am not advocating playing him as much as McDavid, but he should easily have an average closer to 19+ mins a game based on his talent level IMO.
There are times where I dont understand why the 4th line is playing. Why play the 4th line with 3 minutes left in the game for example. I am a Babcock fan, but I do find him a bit too stubborn sometimes. - Archaic
Idk, the Leafs have a lot of talent on forward.
As do the Lighting.
Kucherov plays 15:46 mins of ES per game.
Stamkos plays 14 mins of ES per game.
Matthews plays 15:40 mins of ES per game.
Personally I think it’s way overblown. There’s a lot of talent to go around.
I wouldn’t be opposed to 7 D 11 F. Rotate guys into that 4th line. |

I could see the Rangers being interested in Brown. They like to think they are in the stage of their rebuild where they can have a quick turnaround.
Brown will help and is an RFA.
Use him in a package to get Hayes or Zucc?
Or maybe just a hockey deal...who knows.
Brown and Johnnson for Krieder and a meh player? Plenty of avenues to explore with NYR.
I think there is a reason they sent two people to watch Car/NYR |
