Gardiner had a decent game last night. Took the body didn't cough up the puck. Maybe just maybe Babs needs to poke him before every game.

Gardiner still scares me in our own zone when he has the puck below the goal line. Those backhanders he floats up the boards are going to turn into goals against against more talented teams.
Leafs breakout in general is pretty annoying to watch. |

I scared too its ok to be scared but as Neil Gaiman once said “Sometimes there is nothing you can do.”
If it were Gards that fell on his ass and coughed up the puck for a 2 on 0

That's Babcock's breakout system though that he does to a tee. Flip out, forwards go get it, or stretch pass. He's one of the better passers in the back end.
I'll say it again, Gardiner is 95% Good, 5% train wreck; if he didn't have those epic brain meltdowns, he'd be a perennial Norris threat. He has all the tools, but there's a loose wire in there that shorts sometimes. |

I'll say it again, Gardiner is 60% Good, 40% train wreck; if he didn't have those epic brain meltdowns, he'd be a perennial Norris threat. He has all the tools, but there's a loose wire in there that shorts sometimes. - gravyface
Fixed for accuracy.
I think that's a fair assessment, honestly. |

I'm a little irked. Maybe I'm just feeling a little like the Leafs get the short end of the stick from the media, but I can't fathom the way the game was officiated.
On both hits on Kadri - Dunn and Schenn - they were both literally airborne, but no one says anything about that. If the tables were turned, and it was Kadri who had left his feet to deliver at hit . . . he'd be called on the carpet and certainly would have been sitting in the box.
The BS hooking "a stick was parallel to his body and you can't do that!" was prevalent all game long from everyone, so it was just a choice made by the Refs. The only hooking that was hooking was Dermot in the first.
Anyway, my wife doesn't care, and I need somewhere to vent this a bit, because while I'm not outraged and the hits aren't exactly dirty per se, they were clearly launching their bodies at Kadri as opposed to delivering a clean body check. . |

Yeah, I dont get the breakout system at all. I remember when Babcock came I thought our breakouts changed for the better, now all we do is dump it out via the boards and flip outs all day long.

The Leafs need another defencemen who can hit on the backend. I cant tell you how sad it is to see the other teams forwards always beat our team to the puck and we barely even give them a nudge when going into the boards.

Oh boy.
Perennial norris threat?
Oh my
Gardiner can get points....on a team stacked with offense.
But he has never been great defensively, no matter whos system hes playing. |

Karlsson has never been good defensively either.
By perennial threat, I mean he'd be knocking on the door, but I like the reaction I get out of the Gardiner haters, so I worded it that way. |

Muffin's been sitting too close to Gardiner the last week or so, he's caught the "give aways". Hopefully they get him medicated and he comes back better then ever. |
