The trade couldnt of waited because Edmonton needed to clear space for Sekera. Other teams were apparently interested so EDM might have found another suitor if Flyers tried to delay. - Baxter27
I realize that Edmonton needed to clear salary to bring up Sekera, but the trade when it went down, was to their advantage. It put the Flyers in a bad position if anything were to happen to Hart. I heard that other teams were interested in Talbot, but do we really know for sure that was the case - or was it just gamesmanship to get it done from the Oilers' point of view.

There must be some other way of watching Amac play where some people think he is a capable dman, but I don’t know what it is. He is horrible and has always been horrible. He fails the eye test and the advanced stats test. He makes every d partner worse, currently Ghost. Yet GM’s and coaches alike keep throwing him out there game after game to commit the same turnovers and mistakes that he routinely makes. Baffling. Morin and Myers would have been regulars for a season or two if held to Amacs low standards. - darkerens
Its crazy isn't it? He has averaged over 20 minutes a game his entire career playing under 4 different coaches (Scott Gordon twice)
This season is the lowest avg ice time of his career by almost 3 minutes.
He must have naked pictures of wives or something.
Sure. The team still feels like they are in the running for a playoff spot. Myers is a rookie. So lets explore the options. They aren't going to break up the Provorov/Sanheim pairing. Gudas has been playing well and they aren't going to take him out of the lineup. If you play Myers with Gudas and take Haag out, that puts two RH defenseman together. That leaves the Gostisbehere/MacDonald pairing. Gostisbehere has been struggling but what is the best thing for him now? To sit out or to play through it and try and build up down the stretch. If you take out MacDonald, you're then putting a rookie inexperienced player with a player who is struggling.
At some point, a player will be traded to make a spot, or they will come to the decision that the playoffs are out of reach and add Myers to the lineup.

Of course, injuries are also a possibility. Or using a fresher player on the second half of back to back games.

It's called not looking at his salary. If MacDonald made 900K a season and was the 6th-7th d-man, he would be a very capable and inexpensive 6th-7th guy.

MJL had a logical explanation, this is not. No one cares what he makes, we are saying we have a better option in Meyers. No issue with him being the 7th guy.

True, but I question the timing of the Talbot/Stolarz trade. A healthy Stolarz, to spell Hart when needed, is better than a really rusty Elliott. The trade could have waited until Elliott got some more action in LHV. The only advantage of making the trade when they did was for the Oilers, not the Flyers. In order to spell Hart now is to either play Mackenna or bring up Elliott a bit early. - RustyPipes

Just after Carter was traded from Columbus, the gate keeper for the Jackets Car garage was giving the Jeff Carter scoop. Girls, guys, he likes them all.

We as in many others on this board, geez man stop taking things so literally all the time. How many people the past few weeks complain everyday about Meyers not being in for Amac?
