the only goal he had a chance on was the 2 on 1 snipe. and i'm not gonna' say he should have had it.

Might want to watch the replay of that first goal and watch how MacDonald ties up the puck to wait for support that never comes while Gostisbehere just watches. Two TB players overtake him while Gostisbehere makes little effort to get out to block the shot and the puck deflects off of him in the net. Blaming MacDonald there is absurd.

he was in the corner with the puck and didn't get it out, like he does most of the time. it's not like it's impossible to clear it when you're in a puck battle. ghost didn't help either. they were both bad. he also had a chance in the o zone to make a play for the puck, but didn't. he hesitated and then had to back peddle as they went up ice.

i'm not going to debate whether amac is good or not. any further. he isn't.

On a + note... Elliot looked good, maybe will get a trade offer

I’m sorry but I think Mac is every bit as bad as Advertised. I agree with MJL that Ghost is more of an issue of the pairing but Mac’s best season was last season but outside last year, he’s been a mistake from the start. Solid shot blocker. Offers nothing else.

he COULD have made the save. some nights, he gets that one. it would have been a huge momentum stop at that point, to stop the bleeding and give him some confidence.

that said, a poor turnover by sanheim/provorov pairing to start the goal.

i would have taken a timeout after the 2nd goal. just settle things down. but that's me.

no need to apologize. i think he's awful. whether ghost is playing poorly with him has zero bearing on my opinion regarding his capabilities.

He had no chance to get it out, his only play was to tie up the puck and wait for support. It's the type of play that is made frequently. He got zero support from his partner. MacDonald has been playing solid hockey with a partner who has been MIA in the defensive zone. On that play, MacDonald was correct to back up. It was less than a 50/50 puck. If he had stepped up and been burnt it would've been a 2 on 1 and people would've been blaming him for that. He made the right call.

To be clear, I'm not blaming him. I never blame a goalie when a shooter is one on one. All I'm saying is he is capable of making a save like and I think he will make that save a high percentage of the time. He's that good.

He played 2 periods Friday. Did not play Sat or Sunday. Suffered from leg cramps and knee swelling. May play this weekend.
