Nope, not ready. Not as presently constructed. For all the talent that this team has (hint: more than the Bruins) there is very little work ethic which suggests immaturity. They come with purpose when they play against playoff teams Tampa, Montreal, SAN Jose but come out flat and struggle against teams like Wings, Coyotes, and Sens - Turnitaround
Absolutely agree with this. Love the Leafs and we have a great future, but not ready. Next year will be tough with the cap, but the year after that we get rid of Horton and Marleau contracts...…..from that year going forward is what we should be stacking our hopes on. |

I think Leafs are the better team and will win the series.
That said, our coach needs to smarten-up. |

(Sarcasm incoming)
Pathetic.
The Jets lose to the Sens twice in a one week span? Losers
Golden Knights losing to Arizona 5-2 last week? Ha
Washington losing to the Panthers last week? Booo
Calgary losing to the panthers last week? Lahsihd
Oh and the mighty BRUINS? Yeah they lost to the NYR twice in a span of 10 days and threw in a loss to the Flyers in that 10 day span too. The Leafs should really learn from their future playoff competitor.
You know what? No teams deserve to win the cup this season. They should just forget the whole playoffs until contenders can finally stop being losers and go 82-0 and not lose to any non playoff team EVER. Shame on you contenders. - Santo_44
Think you missed the point. I don’t think anyone expects a contending team to go 82-0. But you do expect them to come out and play every game like they mean business. When they lost to NYR few days ago they played that game hard, outshot their opponent but lost because they ran into a hot goalie..I don’t like losing but I have no problem because the effort was there and they played like a contender. But there was mediocre effort at best against OTT (31st placed team) and again against ARZ where they were massively outshot. Those are just 2 samples of several this season. Tampa on the other hand plays the 31st seeded team the same way that they play the 2nd seeded team. That’s what you call being a pro, coming to work, not messing around and all the other cliches |

Probably not but they got Tavares now which should help. They'll probably need home ice too.
Reality is though, whoever wins probably gets poopkicked by Tampa Bay in the next round anyway.
Experience though? |

Bold prediction: The Leafs will win the Stanley Cup within the next 5 years but it won't be with Babcock behind the bench. |

Pittsburgh (twice), Los Angeles, Chicago and Washington all fired their coach before they won a Cup with their core of players.
Just sayin', looks like a pattern. |

I love when people talk out of their ass to try and prove a point.
TB faced the NYR about a month ago and was outshot 33-20....
Teams play bad sometimes. Get used to it and start watching other teams other than the Leafs. You will realize no team is on their game 100% of the time. |

That was insane.
I get it, the game is fast, yadda yadda, but when you're getting video reviews wrong or little conferences between refs wrong? It was like Nylander's "high stick" that was called a goal on the ice, but yet overturned somehow, despite not being a high stick. |

The Leafs match up very well against Tampa. I think they would want to play us the least out of Boston/Toronto in the second round IMO |

This is true, but the Leafs losing to teams like Arizona/Detroit for example is pretty awful. Those are the teams you need to beat. |

We've been playing down to non-playoff teams all year for some odd reason. Some of that is fatigue, like in AZ on Saturday, but there are a lot of times that they just get outworked or trapped and the team doesn't adjust very well.
That's kind of my biggest fear into the playoffs: Boston dismantled our weak right side and the Leafs made no adjustments.
With Rielly and a year-older Hainsey back together again, it doesn't look good either.
I don't know if these pairings are going to be the ones we go into the playoffs with, but I don't see much of an upgrade here usage-wise:
Rielly Hainsey
Muzzin Zaitsev
Gardiner Dermott
If you're going to play Dermott on his right side, why not up with Rielly? |

Agreed. These new pairings are awful. They need to go get someone steady like Nick Jensen. They could slot him into the right side with Reilly, then Slide Hainsey in with Muzzin, and Zaitsev off the roster
Honestly Jensen fits the Leafs perfectly, cheap salary would not be a big deal for the cap, and they could look to resign him at a reasonable cap hit for next year.
Boston will kill us if we dont shore the right side up.
