I think even with Zucc, Penguins arent there in terms of being a Cup contender. A lot of passengers this season and a need to reset this offseason. Penguins still have a few good years left with Crosby/Malkin to try to win one or two more Cups.
I'm not sure I want Zuccarello, he might become another Brassard for us. - SuperHenderson13
I never count you guys out. Usually you guys go on some crazy streak and are at the top going into the playoffs. |

I think other teams fans underrate Zuccarello. He does so much on the ice - Slimtj100
I could see him bringing back more than Nash did. |

I don't know what I'd do with an extra testicle. Having four would be just plain weird. |

Shatty with 2 years remaining on his contract like Smith, is likely only trade worthy for a team he's agreed to play for, provided the Rangers retain up to 50% of his remaining two years annual $6.65M salary.
But at least it's also financially feasible to buy out Smith's annual $4.35M for its final two years as a second option, though costing slightly over $2M more in total cap hit fees over the 4 years term, in contrast to eating 1/2 his remaining salary in a trade. Shatty is a cap killer buy out wise this summer, and no greater so than with his approx. $6.1M cap hit charge for the 2020/21 season alone of his 4 years buyout term.
Or it may end up that the only means to trade Shatty to an acceptable team of his, will be for the Rangers to accept likewise in return, a bad contract from the potential trade partner, pending that player's salary amount and term remaining, and whether either team retains some money on their player being dealt.
The bottom line is that one of those two contracts on their back line must be parted with through some means. That preferably by no later than just prior to the NHL Draft, to create cap space and a d'man roster spot, especially should McQuaid or Claesson be re-signed. |

I just don’t see this need. If you can get a good return, by all means trade Shatty. I’ve argued that no one should get bought out. The other angle is, who exactly is knocking on the door that they are blocking? The only one who is probably ready for sure is Lindgren, and if you move McQuaid and Claesson walks, that takes care of itself. One thing I’ll repeat myself as a broken record, is we can’t sacrifice long term gain for any short term gain. I want no part of salary retains or buyouts next season, zero. We will likely be a mediocre team at best. Why not use that season to absorb as much as possible for future benefit? While I’d still be on team no buy put, next offseason you could buy out Staal and Smith if you wanted and the hit would be more tenable and for a shorter overall length.

After the deadline I would maybe call up Andersson and put him in Zucc’s spot on that top line. Give him every opportunity to get his confidence going. He’s playing with no talent down in the AHL and he’s not playing well. Maybe it will give him a jump start playing with Zib and Kreider. |

Rangers traded Peter Holland to Chicago for young right handed defenseman Darren Raddysh
I speculate this could be prelude to the McQuaid deal
once they deal McQuaid, they'll call up someone from Hartford and Raddysh is replacing that callup

I don’t disagree McQuaid is gone soon, but I wonder if it also means something was discovered with Pionk. Hopefully, this means Lindgren is up for good |

Pretty decent numbers in the AHL, wonder if he is a career AHL'er, seems like a really good trade for us, just by the #'s |

seems like a no brainer, Holland is a UFA after the season and Raddysh is signed for peanuts

Yup, still young for a defenseman too. His numbers are a bit better than Hajek's |

I never got the allure with him. We needed to get Foote or Raddysh in that deal and we got neither. |

Yeah, he didn't seem too bad in the pre season. Had some issues but nothing I thought would make him have only 5 points and a -25 |
