4.76 mill cap hit this year...and his cap hit will only be 9.5 mill for 8 more years after this one. Insanity. He's playing at a max payout level and the cap will continue to rise. - MattStrat
Yzerman used the Biz20 promo code when signing Kuch to that deal. |

The playoffs are up now. I have a decent lead (223.50 - 157) going after one day. |

I'll make it next year. I would have killed it this week. I made my lineup just in case and I had chosen Dylan Strome, Debrincat, Kane, Duchene and Stone. That game last night would have had me way ahead lol |

explain to me like I'm 5:
what is the impact of Maatta's injury to our cap space at the deadline? what would be the difference if he came back before vs. during the playoffs? |

I'm not THAT well-versed, but capfriendly has the Pens with appx. $2.3M in deadline space. I'm like 95% sure that if Maatta waited for the playoffs to come back there would be no cap implications. If he does, I'm sure there's some kind of prorated calculation to be done. Someone else can help with that lol |

As far as I know if he came back after the playoffs start his full cap hit is off the books...if he came back before then there's little to no savings....Im not 100% sure I'm right here. Of course with the TDL in less than a week the Pens would have to know for sure he was out until April...and I dont think he's going to be...
I think the space generated might be done by prorating the cap hit by the number of games he misses on LTIR |

Well they said he'd be out around a month, so he could possibly miss all of March and if the Pens can somehow play no worse defensively which has been the case then there is no reason to rush him back. |

As of now there is no impact as Maatta is on IR and not LTIR.
There is a lot of shuffling they can do to maximize LTIR relief if/when Maatta is put on there. |

Issue being that you don’t want a player getting his legs back during the playoffs. You want guys at full speed by then. Unless there’s an absolute doozy of a trade that you can’t say no to that requires not activating Maatta until the playoffs, I’d rather have Oli get a few weeks in before the games start to matter. |

Also this:
When a player is deemed fit to play, the team must activate them. |

Remember how slow Maatta was in the 2017 run? hahah He missed like almost 2 months and only returned for the very final game of the season (I think, might of been final 2) then straight into the playoffs haha.
So yeah, I would much rather him get a few weeks in before they start. |

Oh no, I get that. We just know all too well that players can often be rushed back too soon. If the Pens defense is playing the same as when he was in the lineup, they can take extra precautions to make sure he’s as close to 100% as possible. |

Well it was a bit sneaky now wasn't it? Didn't Kane come back the very first playoff game? I'm not hating whatsoever because I would absolutely do the same thing. |

He broke his collarbone which takes 4 to 8 weeks for recovery and he missed 7 weeks. It worked out for them but its not like he missed excessive time for it to work out for them. |

I could only see a contender making a big push wanting Hornqvist and only see an small upgrade on defense coming back. So trading him isn’t going to really improve the pens in my opinion. I love his game between the whistles, just wish he would stop his other bullpoop. He isn’t a good shi t disturber. |
