I think it was a joke attempt about how much Sullivan scratched him... - MattStrat
I figured it was a joke of some sort, I just didn't get the punch line. |

What you need to do if your horny is get off |
|

Horny is one of those guys you get frustrated with from time to time but as soon as hes out of the lineup, you realize how much he brings to the team.
I wouldn't trade Horny unless there is a big fish coming back. (Seems unlikely as most sellers will want futures) |

As far as I am concerned as long as Hornqvist is willing to continue standing in front of opposing goalies, annoying them and their defenses as well as getting in the paths of shots for deflections he is earning his paycheck. There isn't really anyone else on the team who does this consistently. ZAR does it but nowhere near to the level of Hornqvist. I don't want Guentzel to do it - he is too young and too skilled for that kind of role.
However, as soon as Hornqvist stops doing this then yes, his contract will hurt the team. |

Only if Columbus includes Seth Jones to even it up. |

Ugh. I guess that's fair... They might have to eat JMFJ's contract if they want us to take back Jones, though. |

You guys are very unrealistic with this trade...It would leave then with a big hole to fill. They need to throw in a 1st and we will add JJ to the trade. |

Yes yes I wasn't considering sides. Jones can't come in and just replace Johnson's left shot. We'll need some picks to make this worth while for the Pens. |

I think if Hornqvist would play on a line dedicated to playing against the other teams top line he could be effective because he does hound dog guys. He would need guys who can chase his dump to be effective. But I still agree he needs to be top six. Edit:I’m not speaking of his turn around and face wash everyone antics. |

Looking beyond this season, Penguins have a lot of cap problems and will need to offload guys like Pearson, Hornqvist, Johnson, etc. They also need to find an identity again. They try to play like a speed team but with virtually 0 speed, especially beyond the first line.
I really like Blueger. Guy is a smart player. I think he's a high end 4th line guy, low end 3rd line guy right now but I think he will grow nicely into a top 9 role. I have also liked McCann.
I would keep Wilson out of the lineup in favor of Pearson or Simon. Guy is okay and plays well, but he cannot put the puck in the net. |

IF we had to trade Hörnqvist it better be to the West Coast. I'd send him to a Dallas Stars or something. He needs to be a Top 6 forward in order to be effective for sure. |

I feel like the hornqvist talk comes up every year at this time. He is made for the playoffs and power play. He will be a force in these playoffs (assuming they actually make it) |

Hornqvist isn't being used correctly.....and yes, it's the same situation that has plagued Sullivan this season. Just another example of the disconnect with JR and Sully. Why sign him to that contract to be a third liner?
That being said, Hornie didn't look right for 6 or more of those games after he returned from the puck off his chin. Plus, he was logging a good chunk of time with Brassard who was mailing it in most nights. |

Yeah, I agree. I think maybe if you don't want to break the top line that has been very good for us you could try horn on a line with Bjugstad to see if they can develop some chemistry. In theory Pearsson/Simon - Bjugstad - Hornqvist should be a great third line.
If it doesnt work I think they should try to put him back with Sid or look to trade him.

Hornqvist + Crosby for Amac + Simmonds.
We'll throw in a 5th if need be. |

Like that idea a lot. Pearson on that 3rd line would provide a scorer (kind of) and be tough to play against. Also rust and hornqvist can be easily switched to generate any spark if needed |

I would freaking hope that ~13 mil would make a good 3rd line. |

People need to stop thinking about the 3rd line as bottom 6 depth pieces in today’s NHl. There needs to be legitimate high end players on your third line to succeed today. |

I am happy to see quite a few people have seen what Hornqvist brings to this team. Geuntzel is a solid player, belongs on the top line with Sid and can replace Hornqvist on the PP when the need arises.
Hornqvist creates so much attention and chaos in the area in front of the net that no one else can do. His ability to do so basically creates a 4 on 3 situation and that helps the talent level of the Pens to shine. |

we could go back and forth all day whether we should or shouldnt trade Horny...
but if we did trade him, can anyone come up with a reasonable trade? I'd assume we'd be looking for a LW and probably younger... |

Might not even trade JJ straight up for Neal at this point....didn’t see that crash coming so fast |
