not sure you've looked at the stats lately but it doesn't appear the isles need a goaltender..
- Isles_since_6

Lehner remains a pending UFA and has played a total of 2 NHL playoff games. That's the reason why I thought they could possibly be a fit.

Hawks willl be one of the quietest teams at the TDL.

BUT, will be making a big splash or two come July.

Stan WILL be making some noise come the summer, AFTER UFAs are available and signing bonuses (yes, you,,,AA) are paid.

There is no way this is true... A 1st + Sikura does not give you a signed Stone...

Because I'm sure the Hawks would easily do this trade... OTT, not so much.

Also, I don't think the Hawks will trade away their 1st unless they fleece another team (like in the above trade scenario). The Hawks need more young talent, why would we give our 1st away for some rental?? Those days are behind us.

- RedRevenge

I agree. I don't see any of Stone, Duchene, Dzingal, Simmonds or any other of the big name rentals coming at the TDL. The Hawks simply don't have the quality of assets to give up for them to maybe have a chance to grab a wild card spot.

I'm sure Stan Bowman has inquired to what the price is for them and I would expect that since that's kinda his job but, in the long run, the teams that are certain playoff teams are going to pay more then anything the Hawks could offer.

Please people, can we stop using this as a comparable? That 2012 LA team was one of the league’s best defensive teams, and had Vezina candidate Quick in goal. Quick’s GAA for the season was 1.95, and the team GAA was 2.02. They did have trouble scoring. But once in, they shut everyone down. Quick had a 1.41 GAA in the playoffs. Night and day versus this Blackhawk team, or most others that claw they way into the 8th seed. They went 12-2 in the 1st 3 rounds.

Do you really think this Hawk team is capable of holding opponents to 1.4 goals per game in the playoffs?

Please, think before posting.

Here are the goals against during that King playoff run

2, 2, 0, 3, 1
1, 2, 2, 1
2, 0, 1, 2, 3
1, 1, 0, 3, 2, 1

That’s how playoffs are won. Do you see the Hawks doing that?

thats what they would give up in pp goals

all of the trade scenarios you proposed are very low probability for the reasons you sighted...

if stanbow gets a wow can't say no deal; for once someone else overpays then maybe something happens...

Brandon Manning placed on waivers, and I like Drake Caggiula even more now! I already liked him a lot to begin with.

Hey, I just heard from one of those hockeyblogger sites that the Hawks are working on a couple of deals.

Kahun & Caggiula for Stone, then the Hawks sign Stone for $5M for 7 years.

And EDM isn’t happy with their ‘grittiness’, so they’re thinking of sending McDavid to the Hawks for Hayden, Kunitz & Martinsen.

I wasn’t sure if these were true, but I googled them, and appeared toward the top of the search results.

Because I see no real avenue to immediate improvement of the team I am really ready for this TDL line to be over so the fantasy island lineups and weird trade proposals can vanish. I am actually fine staying quiet instead of trading off prospects for dreamland scenarios.

Sure, the Hawks may well move AA, but that won't improve the team. Yes, shedding that cap hit will help down the road. And trading Kruger or Kunitz will bring back nothing.

Saad being traded means now the Hawks must find another top 6 player. I suppose if Saad can net the Hawks a legit Top 4 D-man, that could be a short term improvement, but I honestly don't see that happening either. Teams with legit top 4 D-men are not really looking to dump them.

The best assets to trade are the veterans guys, but the three Keith, Crow, and Seabs all have leverage to reject trades, Crow has some health issues and lets be serious Seabrook is not movable. If Bowman were to find a taker for Brent without adding in multiple sweeteners, a statue to Bowman should be erected in front of the UC right after the other Gm is carted off to an insane asylum. Keith is the Hawks only legitimate Top 4 player and given the Hawks trading him won't likely return a top 4 player then moving #2 will signal "white flag", and optics won't look good for the PR masters in the Hawks office suites.

Nice post Kwolf...

As far as Saad - he's doing ok - 17 goals - you hope he ends up with 25 - but after watching Panarin light it up against us on Saturday that trade looks still just as bad as when it was made.

No one's taking Seabrook's deal (another Bowman beauty). The other vets with NMC's control their destiny. I don't know who would take CC when he's been hurt for the last two seasons and the wrong hit could knock him out again...

and while this team sits a couple spots out of the playoffs currently we've see what's happened against playoff teams the last couple of outings - they got shelled.
The defense remains the main problem without question. And do you wait for the kids to pan out or do you go out in the offseason and sign a couple of quality dmen - who guys who aren't Brandon Manning...

If CHI are sellers, Saad, AA, Murphy and Crow all expendable to me. Thanks for the memories boyz. Time to move on. Easier said than done though trading any of them. But those are 4 big ticket contracts i'd jettison if possible.

Going to see Boqvist today. His Knights are in my hood.
Went back and watched the 'lites from London's last few games.
Two games back, Boqvist skated right in front of his own net with the puck, promptly gave it away and the London red light was flashing a tick or three later.

Overconfident brain farts aside, he's had a nice first year in North America playing with an elite OHL outfit

Will post later after seeing him live.

Please do Phil.

I have a few games lined up here soon to see him and Entwistle.

I think you are correct Bogie.

My next blog will be the more probable moves. Keep an eye out for that one mid-week.

Better move on Q quick, Oilers and Sens are both after his services.

Q is going to the Seattle Sockeyes/Kraken/whatever else is in the mix.

Forsling in for Dahlstrom. I get JC wants to keep everyone playing, but I would limit the rotation to Forsling and Koekkoek.

Unless I'm missing something, I don't see too many "quality dmen" who are UFAs. People have mentioned Stralman, and I suppose Tyler Myers would be an option. Who else (assuming Karlsson is off the table) is worth looking at?

If we go the "trade for a top 4 dman" route, the only team I see willing to do that would be Carolina, and they would probably ask for Saad.

This screams tank to me. I’m sorry but Forsling has been atrocious. Put the team in the best position to succeed FFS. I’m fine if they want to tank but don’t half ass it. Either sell Anisimov and Gus to play a development project like Forsling, or keep the gang together and play your 6 best defenders which includes Dahlstrom.

Enzo, they are not "trying" to get into the playoffs. They are purely in evaluation/showcase mode. If they make the playoffs it is a happy accident (as TC alluded to in his first point). It may calm down a bit after the TDL, but even then, I think we see a pretty notable rotation of players.

I would love to have Panarin back. But i don’t think it’s up front We need an upgrade. Get in a d-man instead.
