i get the booby prize: i called at least 80 SOG's and right on the button...
- bogiedoc

And I figured the hawks would give up at least half of them.....they were relatively tight on the number of shots they gave up tonight, outshooting their competition.

Who? I would aim for a bottom 6 forward. Johnson, Nilsson, and Fortin have all tried and not done so well. Do we see Martinsen again? He might be the best of the bunch but he’s still not good enough.

I would have waited until Highmore was healthy. I really liked him when he was up here.

Strome looks more relaxed and confident in his postgame interview. Some humor in there too. Think he’s beginning to realize he belongs here.

How about some defense?
- SimpleJack

Drafting Hughes is gonna do that?

Nine goals scored in the first tied the 3rd highest 1at period in nhl history.

Highmore for sure. He’s practicing now so hopefully he starts playing with the Hogs soon.

I wonder if Stan makes a move for the bottom 6?

i kinda figured this game was in rare waters...highest 1st period; probably involved the oil in the 80's

Good to hear with Highmore. I thought I had heard he was back.

I hope so. What other under performing 1st rounder is there for Stan to get? He's been lucky with his lotto trades.

Perlini plays like he doesn't GAF.

i'm not sure you get much for him but I just don't see anything other then speed. I'm always a person wants to give guys a chance but he just does not seem to have any urgency to his game unless he is switching defense to offense.

gotta think perlini is on his way to the pressbox or out of town...

for a guy with RFA right in front of him...well not showing much...my guess his 1round predigree will get him contract somewhere; hopefully not here

Get a load of this. Went back and counted: 11x in 60 games the hawks have allowed at least 6 goals and still with 22 games left they are tied with nucks and aves 1pt out if the 2nd WC.

They weren’t high draft picks but Copp and Tanev from Winnipeg would be nice depth additions. Both play a good amount of PK time too.

Except the Oilers scored scored all 6 goals in the first period and at one time it was 12-6. It wasn't a great game by any stretch.

Hawks were never closer that 2 goals.

Exactly right. Not enough compete or determination to go along with a lack of hockey IQ and questionable hands. He does nothing except turn the puck over. Sikura brutal turnover to Stone that led to a 3v1 but he at least has some Vision with the pass to Saad. Sikura is just too weak. Hayden is fine as your 12th forward as long as he lays the body and throws fists when needed. He’s nothing more than that due to his skating IMO. When is Kampf back??

You aren't getting a moldy jock strap for him. Just waive him and not bother with a contract after the season.

Defensive forwards, definitely a need on this team. Still young, not so much Copp, but could be cheap.

I will settle for better puck management. That would help a little. Too many times they turn the puck over trying to make the tough play instead of just taking what is there.
