You have to look at Chicago's situation now, they are 3 points out of a wild card spot and they want to make the playoffs that's obvious, they won't get a top 5 draft spot , so if they did give up a 1st and say sikura or kahun for stone who would get signed in order for the deal to manifest that's a win win .

Anismov, Kunitz, Kruger get You late draft round picks , Keith and Seabrook highly unlikely moving but if Keith does your looking at a 2nd round pick plus giving up sikura or kahun either way. Seabrook your eating 50 percent of his salary.

Toews and Kane you have to look at the big picture they have 2 maybe 3 more years so if Chicago gets in they feel they have as good a shot as anybody with Crawford in net and toews and Kane leading the charge.
Even if they get stone while giving up a 1st and sikura, he is a upgrade top 6 young guy that still no matter what if they make the playoffs or not having him over kahun , sikura only helps.

You really have no clue do you. If the return for Keith is only a 2nd round pick, he is going nowhere. If you think its going to take a Sikura or Kahun to move Keith you are even more out of touch.

How about Hawks send Toews home to the Peg for really not that much while retaining half his salary? 👍😜
- Ross77

After you acquire Toews from us and Stone from Ottawa the final step is to demote Paul Maurice to the Moose and sign Q. Stanley Cup at Portage and Main for sure.

Better move on Q quick, Oilers and Sens are both after his services.

Defense, defense, defense. That's what wins championships. Until the Hawks solidify theirs, the Hawks won't be a serious contender. Yes they have a boatload of defense prospects, but most are 2-3 years away.

Even if a Beaudin or Boqvist make the team next year, they are not the reincarnation of Bobby Orr. They will have to grow and learn the game for a couple of years much like Seabrook and Keith did 10-12 years ago.

Hawks need to add a solid top 4 Stralman type defenseman as a placeholder for a couple of years, and hope Keith and Seabrook can contribute for a couple of more years until the prospects are ready.

- boilermaker100

The likely hood of Chicago adding a defenseman , when they have 2 aging defenseman who their stuck with for 5 and 6 more years and a stockpile of blue chip defenseman in the waiting is unlikely unless Keith or Seabrook are moved and it's a younger defenseman with proven upside.

This team as of right now is better defensively than 2 months ago but lacks upfront talent in their bottom 6 and that's their priorities.

Crawford coming back in their mind is like a huge trade with a defense that is playing much better.

I'm all for a huge trade that 1 benefits This team long term and makes sense.

You can bet that they will try and make the playoffs which guarantees Chicago won't be drafting in the top 5.

If Q coaches again, I don't think he'll go to the Edmonton or Ottawa dumpster fires. He'll sign with a team that has a lot of talent and is a Cup contender... like Winnipeg.

Doesn't matter if the Jets got Toews, Kane, Crosby and McDavid at fully retained salaries, with Maurice coaching with his lack of any kind of defensive structure and a team that lacks discipline the Jets are going no where.

I thinkmyourmthe one who is outta touch. Stan has no leverage here , Keith if he wants to waive his NMC holds all the cards as homie and where he goes. Also Keith has 5 more years so to think the return is a 1st round pick your lost , also they will have to give up a young prospect , the upside down the road is cap space that's what if anything will be for and Stan knows he has limited options the question is what's best for this team.

But please use some common sense here instead of one-sided emotions.

Keith is worth more to the Hawks on the roster than whatever return he garners. It’s not time to give up on Sikura but he won’t have much trade value.

I wouldn’t part with Kahun, he could end up being a nice middle 6 forward for the next few years. Kahun is 4th overall in rookie scoring and 3rd amongst rookie forwards. I don’t know where Kahun’s ceiling it but he’s off to a good start.

I do think Chicago is willing to move on from Keith the question is when and what the return is.

Also I'd take stone over kahun if that's what it takes to acquire him.

Absolutely agree with Edm and Ott. And I don't see him wanting to go to Win. if he ever goes anywhere it won't be to a horsepoop team.

I have to imagine there is a few GMs that can't see Gustos deficiencies defensively and believe they would pull a fast one on the Hawks by trading for him now, especially since our power play looks great.
- BetweenTheDots

Or they do and maybe feel they can pair him with someone that will cover for him the next time he decides to wander down below the face-off dots in the o-zone.

I was being completely facetious, Q has no interest in coaching those 2 sad sack squads.

Winnipeg is a completely different matter with their talent.

Chicago is looking into stone I just read and it would require stone being signed a 1st round pick and sikura or kahun or drake as possibilities of trade discussions.

That deal would be great.

The Hawks aren’t in rental mode, they won’t take on any expiring contracts without re-signing the player. Given the Hawks current state it makes no sense to give up even a middle six forward for a top line rental.

It wouldn't be a rental if they acquire stone. Their looking at 3 players stone, Simmonds, and Johansson of new jersey.

No emotions whatsoever. Keith is still an asset, and one in which there is no need to sell low just to be rid of him, nor should you need a "sweetener" to get rid of him.

Keith has say to where he goes, but ultimately, Stan has all the cards when it comes to what to accept in a deal. Keith can ask for a trade, but the Hawks are under no obligation to trade him unless the return is right. Keith is still the Hawks best defenseman. He is also still a top 4 defenseman on any team in the league, and a top pairing d-man on many of them, maybe not a 1, but definitely a 2. In addition he has 4 years left, not 5, and at a salary that is more than reasonable for a top 4 D, plus, add in the fact that he is owed less than $10 mil in actual salary over those 4 years. The Hawks are not hurting for cap space, Keiths salary is not a drag on their cap, and replacing him with a top pairing d-man would cost more.

Stan can hold out as long as he wants until he gets a "fair" return. Unless Keith has specifically asked to be moved, and I don't believe he has, and Stan is doing it in deference to a veteran to grant his wish, why should Stan sell low?
