if the jets want to keep Stone, letting him go to FA would be the dumbest thing a GM could even do and not even anything Chiarelli did would compare even come close to be as bad as letting Stone walk after trading for him, Connor or Ehlers would need to be in the deal as the Jets will not have the cap to keep Trouba/Myers, Laine, Connor and ehlers with Wheeler getting his raise.

I agree, the second one was a fantasy lineup. Connor is the guy going for Stone if it happens

He forgot how the reply button works *shrug*

But yeah, easily Petan over Appleton and Lemieux. He drives play, he’s defensively responsible, and he can play all 3 forward positions.
Appleton is better served dominating the AHL, and Lemieux offers nothing.

IMO Jets would be absolutely crazy to deal Connor, arguably one of best all-round players on team. If anyone goes, and I hope they do, it should be Laine. Sure just a kid, but.........
Straight up for a re-signed Stone? What about Vesalainen, a 1st, Comrie and Perrault for re-signed Stone and a 3rd? Would that get it done?
Why anyone would want to include Ehlers, their most dynamic young player, on a decent contract is beyond me.
Have to believe this could be a multi-player deal with all the scouting - the Jets know how Stone plays. Jets that could be dealt, IMO, - Appleton, Vesalainen, Stanley, Niku, Perreault, Spacek, Comrie, Copp, Gustaffson, Poolman AND Laine. Could it be Stone AND Duchene? Then in summer trade Trouba and re-sign Myers? My 2 thoughts!

well it is confirmed that Duchene WILL be traded so who knows maybe Jets will get Duch AND Stone ad Duch would be a colossal upgrade on Little however that problem is re-signing all their UFA and RFA, someone needs to go back that is on the roster and those with NTC/NMC will have OTT on the list of no go.

Myers is 29 and Trouba is 24, ts going to be real hard choice on who to keep, unless Trouba makes the Jets decision for them by asking for a trade/ leave when he hits UFA in 2 years.

Interesting........ I am not sure Comrie would be in a deal at this point in the season. Something happens to Helle, then what? But, the other points are interesting. Signed Stone for Laine? That would be a lot on Stoners shoulders after that in his home town

Petan has yet to prove that he can play any forward position at the NHL level.

That is your opinion. Those of us whom enjoy research, statistical analysis, and inhaling hockey games disagree.

Agreed! Got to be included in some deal - just for his sake, if nothing else.

Good point. But I think Stone could handle that. Would rather have a signed Stone for 5 years than take a chance on from, what I see, from Laine for next 5 years.
Hate to give up Comrie as well, but have to entice with someone. Some veteran goalies hanging around that could replace if need be, IMO.
