Not worked up just asking.Jake hasn't been his physical self since player safety labeled him a predator and who knows what else was said behind closed doors.

I don't know if anyone mentioned this when Schenn was called up the other day, but he would bring a nice physicality if they swapped Gudbranson or Pouliot out for him.

Last 2 NHL seasons
Gudbranson: 2.36 hits per game
Schenn: 3.56 hits per game

- NorthNuck

But does he fall down as much as Guddy?

I forget what Carol wrote on the injury report but on the radio they said Edler and Demko were skating by themselves and Tanev will probably be gone with ankle injury for a couple of weeks.

Sutter and Sven seen walking around in the corridors.

Van doesnt play until Thursday. Tanev or Edler could both be back by then.

Interesting factoid; over the last 3 seasons of hockey (2015/16 - 2017/18) Tanev's injuries amounted to an entire season lost of hockey.

What GM in their right mind would trade for that?

Been looking into canuck injury stats and it's crazy. Freaky almost.

Consistent injuries and disastrous drafting has sealed this franchise's fate. It's a miracle that they made it to the finals three times. Until they figure out how to resolve those two specific issues then this team ain't winning any cups.

Seattle!

I wonder though, if someone mapped all the winning teams all time across North America, if you'd see a trend in championship cities that were closer to their divisional opponents rather than more isolated, traveling teams, like Vancouver.

Sure, but it goes deeper than just the same players. this is a cut and paste from another web site but it's spot on...

In 2015/16, 2016/17, 2017/18 the Vancouver Canucks placed third in the league for most man games lost to injury. The other teams in the surrounding spots each season moved out of the top 3 the following season, but the canucks stayed parked in third for all three seasons.

In 2018/19 so far, guess where we are? Third most again.

That's just not rotten luck. That's a trend. You can almost guarantee it.

I think travel plays a part but so does health and I think that for the most part just luck.

The only thing you can control is depth and a legit development system.

Having one of the worst travel schedules doesn’t help, you need to really push the league schedule makers to at least somewhat level the playing field. Gilman said the league used to get sick of the Canucks calling to adjust the schedule before it was made official, I think you have to be that way.

It’s not like the NHL is gonna say “poor Vancouver, we should adjust the schedule for them”. You have to demand it and least get a compromise. That’s where it pays to have a Gillis/Burke personality in the front office, not a Benning/Nonis

That and some players just being flat out injury prone like Vantel said. Edler, Tanev, Gudbranson, Sutter, Baertschi are all basically a lock to get injured during the season.

I think travel and tiredness play its part but Tanev is a shot blocking Dman risk rate high

Sutter is a fairly weak guy chasing other top lines. Gaudette seems to be a little tougher?

Sven has head issues . Time to move on

I'm sure they have. When you have some time to kill just google and all kinds of poop comes up.

The trend seems to be successful teams (getting into the playoffs and competing in the playoffs) have less 'man games lost' then the teams that don't make the playoffs. The championship team on average is one of the top teams with fewest man games lost.

The conclusion was that injuries interfered too much in the planning and preparation, from the ice up to management.

Maybe travel has to do with it. Gillis was a big proponent of a more local schedule and special conditioning to reduce injuries. I'm not sure it made a difference.

So, what will the lines shake down like with Spooner on EP's line?

Rousell-Bo-Goldobin
Spooner-EP-Brock
Leivo-Gaudette-Motte
Eriksson-Beagle-ZacMac

Granlund scratched?

Hutton-Stetcher
Schenn-Guddy
Pouliot-Biega

TBH, i'd prefer to keep Leivo with EP and play Spooner and his apparent speed on the 3rd line with Gaudette and Motte. But i guess they want to put him in a top6 role.
