Bringing up Olofsson or Nylander to play on line4 (in a defensive role) doesn’t help us “compete” though
And if you’re bringing them up for the top9,
then you’re replacing Tage or Smith
It’s questionable at best that either would come up & be an improvement over guys like Sheary or your boy Pommer

And not trading 1sts for rentals isn’t “tanking” or trying not to compete
The type of deal for a guy that can help us moving forward might not be available at the deadline

I’d be having a lot of fun as a leafs fan right now. They haven’t won a playoff series since 2003. Do you think they still go to bed saying f*** we should have made the playoffs in 2013 or do you think they like Reilly, Kadri, Nylander, Matthews, and Marner and being a cup contender this year ?

I am a realist

I have watched Buffalo sports for 40 years

I know when they are special and when they are not


I moved to Florida 24 years ago, adopted Tampa as my second favorite team

Tampa is by far the best team in the NHL and a top 10 addition for the sabres is one of the things they need to compete with Tampa for the next 10 years


They are not competing with them this year

It's my right as a Sabres fan to not give a flying (frank) what Leafs fans think about when they go to sleep.

I want the Sabres to win tonight, and keep the season alive. In June we can talk about who they're gonna pick at 12 or 18 or wherever.

Rooting for better draft position has gotten so far out of hand, it's ridiculous. It's corrupted the entire experience. Normalizing losing and justifying it as a way to get better players is done.

I don't think he has a lot of room down there for beefing up the roster...in addition, players like smith and hunwick, mitts and Thompson, among others, I believe are eligible for the ahl playoffs...

imo, he owes it to his nhl team to try and help them with an acquisition or two with the understanding that it won't be a high-priced rental

They have to be on the Amerks roster at the trade deadline. They probably do some maneuvering to get Smith eligible, but the others would surprise me.

They made Guhle eligible last year with a completely unannounced transaction. It's a bit of a guessing game unless they directly tell us.

Even if the difference between selecting 10th and 16th is 5% better success. I’ll take that all day to make winning a cup a higher probability a couple years from now when we are “contending”

Marcus Pettersson has more points with the Pens then Sprong has with the Ducks. Pettersson addressed an issue the Pens had. Maybe that’s why a trade was made. Food for thought.
