I'm not a fan of the Pro Player moves to date, as he has taken on a bunch of bad contracts in Scandella, Pommer, Hunwick, Slobotka, Bergy ... is there another I'm not thinking of? ... r.

we were still a respectable team aside from the bankrupt years from the beginning until when briere and drury left though

this just sucks, the last 12 years

We've all been down this road before. I've been a Sabres fan for 40 plus years.

And it's tough to move a needle when you're cleaning up the previous regime's mess.

And you just said the words "show me". Which is it? Fire his as$ or show me?

- Powerslave

I personally don't like the job he's done so far, so fire his ass, coach too...

None of those above contracts hurt us. At all.

All of you can say what you want about JBotts and Phil, All I know is that we are not going to make the playoffs again and we have sucked for far too long.

In fact this team has been pretty shatty for my entire life and I am 45. Sure we made the Finals and we have has some playoff appearances but overall we have sucked.

I have been told my whole life that "we should be good in 2-3 years" i will start really caring when that time comes. it's kinda like the sign you see in almost every bar Free Beer Tomorrow...

there was a price to obtain them though

beaulieu taking up 3.5% of our cap, to sit the bench is clearly a wasted contract

you can debate sheary and wilson on the contract alone, but when you add the price to get them in, they are not great

when we got skinner, many on here, not myself, were praising we got a winger for Jack

we got a 3rd liner and a bad d contract for 2 years, and gave up a pick and are held hostage if we move one of the 2 scrubs by giving them a better pick

the early 80's was fun

the patty, alex years were fun

the dom years were fun

the 2 years after the lockout was fun

I think they were by far the worst but are getting better and staying out of it more now. I think them being fans really hurt at the beginning.

They were attempts to improve the depth of the roster that didn’t pan out. Like I said they didn’t work out but at least we can get out of it by the end of this year and next year respectively without having another Bogo, Okposo, or losing half of our prospect pool and draft picks.

the early 80's damn near everyone made the playoffs
Alex and Patty, yes fun but we did nothing while they were here.
Dom years we should have won multiple cups, we did absolutely nothing to help Dom out. Hell we could have bought a cup. There was no salary cap back then.

the 2 years after the lockout were FUN.. best time I ever had watching Buffalo Hockey, then we went ahead and lost both of our stars for ZERO when we could have had them both locked up for 5 Mil each long term.

Beaulieu comes off the books. He played well this year early on, and I have no idea why he sat in the press box for 20 straight.

Sheary is who he is, and if Botts does his job to upgrade the 2nd line, Sheary is fine as a 3rd liner going forward.

Hunwick sucks, but it was a 4th (or a 3rd) and if you believe many on here, those picks are garbage anyway 😉

Stop gap players while he finishes cleaning up the mess. Just my opinion, of course.

Dahlin (he could of made moves to ensure we didn’t finish last), Mittelstadt, Skinner, 2 first round picks, Thompson (He’ll be a late bloomer and be a guy who scores 15-20 on the third line with PP time), Pilut, UPL, Laaksonen, Samuelsson, Pekar, Sheary more productive then a 4th rounder and allowed guys to develop properly in the AHL. He turned over half the roster this year and I’m hoping he will turnover a lot of the players this year.

If that’s how Botts projects Tage,
then he should be a trade chip right now

no doubt they are stop gap

I honestly believe the plan was to plug the roster with players for this year and next year

in 20-21 when everything comes off the books, have kids ready for the big league that can make an impact and build them around

eichel, skunk, skinner, casey, dahlin and risto
