That's a pretty massive proposal... I think Montreal would probably insist on Alzner at around maybe 25% retained going back... I think as far as assets go, Edmonton gets raped in this deal, I know Lucic's contract is a tough one to swallow but still.... - obie
They lose a great deal, yes. But Edmonton would also gain 4 (ish) million in cap space, and that there is the kicker. |

Which is fine, all signs point to bust, hes just the type of player they need to add to the top 6, except one that can score...
This is where I see this team in 2 years, at which point hopefully they can legitimately enter the conversation as cup contender...
Domi Kotkaniemi ???
Drouin Suzuki Gallagher
Byron Danault Shaw
Lehkonen Poehling Armia
Mete Weber
??? Brook
Romanov Juulsen
Leaves them with 2 drafts, 2 free agency classes and mainly Petry and Tatar as trade chips to fill the 2 vacant spots (and of course a lot needs to go right for that roster to be considered contenders) - obie
Ylonen on the RW. Also, how long till we see Fleury?

Well...
How about RNH (plays LW and C), Puljujarvi, Lucic, 2019 1st (unprotected) for Tatar, Shaw, Armia and Columbus's 2nd? - Wildschwein

you bet it's a no. Lucic can't play anymore, Pujuuarvi or whatever his name is will never do, and RNH while not bad, is not really what Habs need.
you wanna save money?
MB would probably do Lucic and Pujjuravi for Hudon.
I wouldn't |

I was thinking of putting Ylonen on there but I thought I was already pushing it with the 4 rookies on the roster...
Hard to tell on Fleury, depending on Juulsen also I imagine but there's a lot of options of the right side, Fleury might be used in a trade, who knows? But he'll be knocking at the door as early as next season I would say |

I would think so, right?
RNH would give them really good depth down the middle and they could use either him, Suzuki or Danault to get a D in a trade, Puljujarvi would become a gamble that could potentially pay off in a big way and that 1st is looking real good |

Really? I think I'd take that... losing 3 third line wingers (Tatar probably a 2nd) and a 2nd? |

So I'm getting both yes and no from this board. Thus I deem it a fair trade. |

they're just excited at the idea of getting something for Shaw and Tatar.
except that they got crap in return, and lost capspace doing so. |

RNH + a potential top 10 pick is crap? |

Montreal gets the better pieces, agreed. Edmonton gets winger depth and the cap space to purchase the services of Nyquist, Silfverberg, etc.
Everyone walks away happy. Except Fido. |

RNH is a good player. +, another first round pick?
Lucic is a hard pill to swallow, but meh. |

agreed, RNH is okay, but not what Habs need. Habs need a LD or a RW, haven't we establish that months ago? |

They'd most likely let Lucic rot in the AHL for 2 years and buy him out, which is why Bergevin would want Edmonton to take Alzner with some money retained |

That'd kill the deal. Cap space is paramount from Edmonton's perspective. |

You think the offers for that LD would be better if you lead off with RNH as trade bait instead of Tatar?
That trade would only lead to another trade but its too good to pass up when you consider value coming in versus value going out |
