I'm thinking Zaitsev gets moved in the off-season and if Liljegren doesn't immediately step in perhaps Holl gets a chance?
I'm wondering what the plans are for Hainsey. Do the Leafs bring him back for a year? I certainly hope not - there has got to be better options on the right side... but then again, it's a grand canyon size hole we're looking at.
Assuming Gardiner is not returning we're looking at:
Rielly-?
Muzzin-?
Rosen-?
RHD options:
Hainsey (re-sign? sigh...)
Holl
Liljegren
Oz (re-sign? ugh...)
LoVerde
Borgman (can he play the right side?)
UFA..?
Trade..? (Carolina?) - mjones242

I agree with your post, but would add, that the pass first mentality on the team hurts the offense sometimes. Nylander had a clear shot from the low slot and passed it into the jungle in front of the net to produce a turnover. Need more shots less fancy passes. - winsix
boy, greedy willi looks great 🤦♂️
so glad we didn’t trade him and garbagener for a grown man who can play defense and stick up for himself and doesn’t want to play house 🤦♂️
what a (frank)ing joke 🤦♂️
edit: nice alliteration 👍 |

Maybe Babschlong is limiting his top players ice time to save them for the
playoff grind ? Pretty sure that his resume' proves he knows how to coach better than any of us, and by "us" i mean you, dolts female dogging about stars ice time.
Let the 4th line play, they're there for a reason.
Cuz putting Matthews in front of the net, in the line of fire from point shots, on the power play, against ARIZONA, when we sit 2nd in the league, is more importanter than being healthy for round one of the playoffs. |

We are 3rd in our division, We aren't second overall. We would not have home ice advantage in the 1st round.
Regular season is very important given how incredibly close the standings are. |

I find it hard to believe Dubas isn't royally pissed-off at this right now. It's a joke.
How dead will Hainsey be once the playoffs come around? But by all means, let's keep worrying about Matthews getting tired at 18 minutes per game at age 21 and a 1.23 PPG average when his peers are getting 21+ minutes a game.
It's 2019, you win with high end talent. We have a ton and are not using them adequately.
And why should Dubas give up more young assets in another trade without knowing if the coach will properly use them? - RogerRoeper
You keep saying that his peers play 21+ a night but there are only 14 fowards in the league that average that much ice time. Only 30 over 20 a night. And the majority of those are on teams that have zero depth.... Ice time is not an issue, stfu |

Perhaps, as a rookie, Johnsson is benefitting from being put in a position to succeed and working his way up the lineup. Perhaps he's doing so well with limited ice because he's getting favourable matchups, which is one of the advantages of Toronto's forward depth. You can play guys lower than they would play on weaker teams, and that allows them to do well.
Letting guys slowly ripen and work their way up is a development strategy going back to the Detroit model, and Lou talked about that as well. No doubt Johnsson will gradually get more ice if he continues to do well, but it's part of a process. - Zezel
